These water filters.. what a bunch of horsecr*p. Only in Malaysia will you find the citizens are too paranoid on the purity of water.
*
I agree in a sense, there is only clean and dirty water, soft or hard water.

But in Malaysia we have people that believe in energy water, diamond water etc bla bla bla. Your filter needs to remove chlorine and heavy metals, not to provide long life and lots of luck. cool2.gif

9" diameter, height is also about 42", similar to PGM 942. But my casing is grey like waterco.

This design is similar to Coway but it is using UF Alkaline system while Coway's 1 is RO filter. Therefore, there is no dirty water to be discharged, no wastage.

Facts from Wikipedia
- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reverse_osmosis
Household reverse osmosis units use a lot of water because they have low back pressure. As a result, they recover only 5 to 15 percent of the water entering the system. The remainder is discharged as waste water. Because waste water carries with it the rejected contaminants, methods to recover this water are not practical for household systems. Wastewater is typically connected to the house drains and will add to the load on the household septic system. An RO unit delivering 5 gallons of treated water per day may discharge 40 to 90 gallons of wastewater per day

Hi zheilwane,
Are you still selling this type of indoor water filter?
How often will the filter need to be replaced and who will be maintaining / servicing?
E.g. for Coway, if on lease, the Coway ppl will maintain the water filter.

Went to check out 3M products.
Got NSF 53 cert wan thumbup.gif
2 POU choices
1. Single filter.
Initial Cost RM700, Cartrige change RM180 after approx every 1800 litre of water, average operation cost per liter RM 0.10.
2. Double filter, with extra filter ability for errr.. MTB sumting,..
Initial Cost RM2k+, Cartrige change RM450 after approx every 2300 litre of water, average running cost per liter RM 0.19.

The above is what I roughly remember..... rclxub.gif
Damm Pricey !!!! doh.gif
maybe I just chuck the whole NSF standard out of my brain and just get BACFREE or DOULTON ceramic filter... British Standard blink.gif

Bacfree has 2 system
1) Outdoor POE - Sand Filter - The most expensive sand filter I've come across so far in Malaysia.
- This model discussion needs to go to another thread about POE filter shakehead.gif

2) Indoor POU - Ceramic Filter - This is the one I was talking about here at this
" [Home Appliances] Water Filter, for drinking water purpose (Household)" thread. nod.gif

Hee Hee , brows.gif saw alphamax sand filter with "NSF 61" Certification when I was shopping in TESCO.
I think the component "micro z" only, not the whole filter.
Checked what is "NSF 61 Certification"

From the NSF website:
http://www.nsf.org/business/water_distribution/faq.asp

General Questions on NSF/ANSI Standard 61
What is NSF/ANSI Standard 61?

NSF/ANSI Standard 61 - Drinking Water System Components was published in 1988 to establish minimum requirements for the control of potential adverse human health effects from products that contact drinking water.

NSF/ANSI Standard 61 includes criteria for testing and evaluating products to ensure they do not leach contaminants into the water that would be a health concern. These contaminants include those regulated by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) and Health Canada, as well as any other non-regulated compounds that may be of concern.
What products are covered under NSF/ANSI Standard 61?

Pipes and Related Products (including pipe, hose, fittings)
Protective and Barrier Materials (including cements/coatings)
Joining and Sealing Materials (including gaskets, adhesives, lubricants)
Process Media (including carbon, sand, zeolite, ion exchange media)
Mechanical Devices (including water meters, in-line valves, filters, process equipment)
Mechanical Plumbing Devices (faucets, drinking fountains, and components)
Potable Water Materials (non-metallic materials)

My summary : the component use is certified for drinking water contact. - the barang can touch drinking water wan. nod.gif
It still does not mean the water that comes out from the sand filter is NSF certified. doh.gif (dirty water in does not mean clean NSF 42 or 53 Certified water out) shakehead.gif
But hey, at least one of the component the component is safe for drinking water contact. tongue.gif
Very smart use of the NSF logo laugh.gif

I am using one without pipe. No piping! It has all the features and functions that produces the cleanest water possible. There is no one filter system that is better than this one. Use in space station and millitary, in warship, submarine. It also dispense hot and cold water ready all the time good for ppl who drink chinese tea with small tea pots so that you get hot tea all the time.
