the best way is to go shop n read the operation manual of both washer, then you can decide which
will suit your need better..

different family have diff requirements.

i noticed all panasonic TL. there is an exposed nut on the pulsator,
the design is like that, no cap...
wonder how much they can save $$ ....
to normal ppl is like the part hilang dy.... biggrin.gif

oso panasonic button have tiny groove around it, can collect dirt, hard to wipe ....

hitachi the lint catcher have glued on mesh, very thin, like will pecah after a while...

Hi all,

Any detrimental effects of using TL if im not a heavy user? My mum is saying that top load WM spoils clothings.

Any comments ?

My panasonic 16kg has gentle wash and I am using normal wash. Clothes are ok, not spoiled, unless you are washing very thin fabrics or your clothes are too old, maybe?

So far, buttons still attached and comforters are washed clean. No issue.

wow..16kg seems like a huge WM. I also understand that TL has better electricity consumption than front load?

Would you suggest Panasonic for TL? I'm looking at something for 2 people.

Nope, look for Hitachi or Toshiba. I'm a Panasonic fan, but WM I'll skip.
For 2 person(sure no new member later on), get a 10-12kg will be good enough. This is to cater for comforter type of big stuffs

One of the thing to understand is the context of why top loaders from North East Asia are also made for such large loads that we see 9-19kg.

In Seoul, I stayed in a traditional home that had a 17kg Tromme FL washer dryer with squarish doors. The sleeping on radiant heated floors on thin tatami with thick blanket necessitated such a product by the housekeeper. The blankets are really thick and large and Seoul can go down to -20 in harsh winters. If that's what we do or have a large household to manage, that should be fine. Otherwise for 2 ppl unless expecting the household to grow or to take in a sudden yearly spike in number of guests due to festive season or have very specific needs for frequently washed laundry, 7-8kg FL or 10kg TL should be ok. We sleep with quilt cover and fleece blanket so even a 8kg FL takes it ok.

I have both quilt covers and comforters...so still have to wash large loads. On top of that, curtains too.

We chose Panaosic because of the control panel. Well, expect it to last 5 years trouble free because I paid for the extended warranty. For 16kg, it s quite gentle and so easy to use. I am using the sensor for most loads.... Just on, then start (2 buttons only) unless I am washing comforters... then On, choose comforter, choose water level, and add spin/rinse as required. The link trap is a plastic case, no more stupid lint bags which break and impossible to replace. We paid extra Rm320 for the extended warranty... still waiting for the cert 1+4 years. Total is about Rm2120...for 5 years... Rm400 a year? If it last longer than that, it is a bonus.

We chose Panasonic because of the control panel which is situated at the back instead of front. I dont need fantastic among of programs as I hardly use them. Most important, the control panel has to be at the back and only Panasonic have that. Why the control panel at the back is important for top loader?

It is logical. All american top loaders have their control panels at the back because you need a free space to load and unload your laundry. If you soak your laundry in a pail before washing, you will have to pour in the laundry, risk og wetting the control panel. Leaning a heavy pail on top of the control board is NOT a good idea.

If you have a front loader, the control board is always on top in the front because it allows you to push your washer under the counter or place a dryer on top. Loading wet laundry into the front dryer wont wet the control board.

I dont like front loaders because I have to bend down and I cant adjust the load without draining out the water first....cant add a sock or two or take out laundry halfway. Top loader are better for me, and water is not an issue here.

Panasonic has been very quiet and doing well. So far happy with it.

Why wont choose panasonic wm? This is the first time I buy an Panasonic wm this decade. if it last till 2020, I am happy.

The control panel has 3 years warranty, the drum (one time replacement) has 12 years but you have to register online.

It won't spoil just few wash, you cloth just not as long lasting if compare to FL, you won't notice any different, only after months of wash. tongue.gif

If you have wool type of fabric you can try whether spoil or not, I tried last time first wash already all the fur thing come out sweat.gif

The last time I bought myself a TL was 7 years ago Toshiba, I don't know how is the technology nowadays.
