Lets compare both top loader (AJ-S80MX) and front loader (BD-W80MV) from Hitachi (source from the URL below)
Electrical and Mechanical Services Department Hong Kong
Brand--------Model------------------Annual Energy (kWh/Yr)------Water Consumption
HITACHI-----AJ-S80MV(8kg)-------40.3 (3.36 per month)---------127.7 (20 cycle = 2554l)
HITACHI-----BD-W80MV(8kg)------159(13.25 per month)---------48(20 cycle = 960l)
*base on Monthly Energy 13.25kWh = 20 cycle as cotton cycle around 0.68 kWh according to manual.
I) conclusion is TL use 1/4 Energy compare to FL but TL use 3X Water compare to FL.
II) so convert to dollar and cents in Selangor 1000 litre = RM0.57 so TL = RM1.46 and FL = RM0.55
III) 1 kWh = RM0.128 so TL = RM0.43 and FL = 1.7
IV) Total TL = RM1.89 and FL = RM2.25 per month (20 cycle)
V) personally I prefer FL as it's more gentle to clothing, my mom also notice the same as we switch from FL -> TL then back to FL
VI) as for cost saving it's not that much different just 0.36 cents or 0.018 cents per cycle, but the investment cost TL definitely cheaper than FL.
hope this one help.
Is the front loading machine running a cold wash or warm wash (40 degC), if warm wash then the heater is the culprit in energy consumption for the front loading machine.Electrical and Mechanical Services Department Hong Kong
