The Hitachi R-S800GM capacity is not 800L, the gross volume is about 707L
whereby the net volume is about 589L only.

I bought the display unit from SengQ at below RM5k... rclxms.gif

Dunno if about that, it's easy to get vegetables, simply open bottom compartment and take them out, with freezers, things tends to get stuck together, and need some effort to get them unstuck.

Further more with a smaller bottom compartment for freezer, the angle at which you need to approach in order to get the stuff out is steeper, ie need to bend more (attached friendly diagram)
*
FIrst of all, your diagram is wrong and do not know what you talking about. All these lower freezer compartment design is a drawer design. You just pull the door and its slide out and you spend less time on your toe peering deep inside frozen stuff at the top compartment.. more worst on bigger fridge.

There is a reason why all these lower freezer compartment design. You spend less time digging out freezer vs fridge so you actually stress your back less with these new design. And if you need to get to the lower compartment unit, you squat down and not bend down.

If you look at your fridge, 99% vegetable are at the bottom and the rest is scattered all over. Now you have all the frequently used items are above knee high and you will standing straight more than bend over...

this display set at on RM4.6k, no difference from buying a brand new set where
its condition is perfect without a single scratch... rclxm9.gif

I donno what drawer design you talking about, maybe in high price freezers? Of all the RM1K to ~RM2K freezers I checked out none of them had drawers. In fact I've never seen any 'drawer design' freezers and I've been checking out freezers all over the place for the past month.

edit: Alright my bad, I saw some of those drawer design freezers

Buyers Guide

    * Ask for an ENERGY STAR model.
When buying a refrigerator, request an ENERGY STAR qualified model to ensure it is energy efficient.
    * Check the yellow EnergyGuide label.
Use this label to determine the model’s energy use, compare the energy use of similar models, and estimate annual operating costs. Learn How to Use the EnergyGuide Label Exit ENERGY STAR.
    * Consider buying a refrigerator with a top-mounted freezer.
Models with top-mounted freezers use 10–25% less energy than bottom-mount or side-by-side models.
    * Purchase an appropriately sized refrigerator.
Generally, the larger the refrigerator, the greater the energy consumption. The most energy-efficient models are typically 16–20 cubic feet.
    * Consider skipping the ice-maker and dispenser.
Automatic ice-makers and through-the-door dispensers increase energy use by 14–20%. They also raise the purchase price by $75–250.

Sometime when you all buy fridge don't just go fo biggest size possible if $ allow.

You need to check to ensure if the home minister find it useful. Also having bigger fridge also means more crap and disorganized layout unless you spend some time with container to organize your fridge.

With such technology today, go for some thing else that make using the fridge easy. One thing like I like nowaday with Hitachi and Mitsubishi is their soft freeze or versa cooling where yuo can control each compartment temp and also separation of circulation air to prevent cross fouling of smell. I find it very difficult to have ice compartment next to freezer where all the raw meat are located...Other brand such as Toshiba/Panasonic/Sharp have not released their multi door system yet so far.

I was split between Hitachi and Mitsubishi and at the end bought the Folio MRS455?? Basically a 5 door design(no its not those 2 big swing french door which I hate). The soft freeze is amazing as I can cut the ground meat despite being frozen, it just nice. The temp is about -7 to -9 vs -19 at freezer department. So no more defrosting. Sausage and hot dog can be separated with minimal effort!

Bought the cheapest/smallest Folio at ESH RM4700. The bigger brother at 520X is only asking about 1k more, I think!

But due to my kitchen cabinet, I only want a white color fridge and only the smallest folio come in white.

BTW, if you all want to go for the Hitachi 5/6 door version which is all same design ie all are drawer except for the upper door, if you are very particular type, you will realize that the ice maker compartment is open next to meat area which I wasn't keen.
