I think Federer is feeling good now.. after all the doubts about him, he came back and gave his best tennis in US Open.

French Open may be important for him, but Pete Sampras, who everyone considers as the best player, does not have the French Open as well.. and Federer got into the final of French Open for 3 times, and Sampras wasn't in the final for once. So i think if Federer gets his 14th slam, he will be seen as a better player than Sampras..

of course.. federer is already seen as a legend. 236 weeks consecutively at number 1, winner of 5 straight titles at wimbledon and us open, won 3 slams in a year 3 times... and he's so humble. smile.gif waiting for asussie open now.lets see how federer takes that!

he was in the final 3 times! just that nadal is awesome on clay.
let see if he can do it next year.
with or without the roland garros title, he is already one of the best ever!

u will be surprised still many of them will still not think that he is the best even he surpasses sampras's record of 14 grand slam wins... some say tat federer is just too cool with not much emotions compared to the rest of the players... or some other kind of reasons... well it's really up to how each of them sees him as a player in the court and outside court and his accomplishments... for sure he is already one of the best... whether he is the best - it's quite debateable... but no doubt for me he is the best in the game...

You mean Teddy? Yeah. A little.

How many more points does he still need to get back his number 1 spot?

about 800 over if not mistaken... and willl need nadal to drop his points for the remaining tournaments to be held later this year as those were the points that he gained last year... and secondly will need federer to at least retain all his points that he gained from last year's matches after US open... quite unlikely that nadal will lose the no.1 spot till next year australian open comes again...

well i for one will still consider pete as the better player.. not because of emotions of whatever.. but rather, sampras had to play against edberg, wilander, mcenroe, courier, agassi, lendl, kefelnikov, michael chang, kuerten, rios, becker to a certain extent, or lesser players like goran, rafter, moya at top form, or well safin, hewitt and roddick who were then really playing unbelievable tennis..

this is the reason why i still believe he's the best player amongst them both because he won so many grand slams and matches playing against so many history regards as the top players to grace the tennis court.. i wont say fed collected grand slams while others were either retiring or too raw to challenge, but well sampras had the tougher opponents to deal with

but anyhow no one doubts their amongst the best that ever played tennis.. the best ? well up to interpretation and when u started watching thumbup.gif
