QUOTE(jaybee @ Nov 10 2008, 02:33 AM) i went to PG maxis office on last friday at northam tower. had a fcuking shock of my life when the dude that work there told me that if im on non limited plan i get charged like Rm100 for 1mb of usage on the data. i wuz like wtf dude, u fcuking serious? u better double and triple check for me, it ain't fcung RM100 for 1mb. How I wish I can get RM99 or even NZD 99 for unlimited mobile broadband 3Gtrue enuff, it wuzn't Rm100 but Rm10 for those on use-to-pay wutever crap. neway, the bottomline is the provider themself r an ******* that they dun even damn understand bout 3g or the package that they r offering. i already accidentally chcuked bout 10mb of usage on my normal line for my iphone. so that's like 100 bucks burn.... RM99 for unlimited then! still RM99 is consider expensive for world standard but hey...we r in malaysia...weher every politiician associated company squeeze the living hell out of us. here u need to pay NZD60 for a 1GB package (the highest 3G data package). Malaysia's internet is consider as very cheap dy, 2nd to Singapore This post has been edited by psyeo: Nov 11 2008, 12:19 PM |

QUOTE(psyeo @ Nov 11 2008, 03:18 PM) How I wish I can get RM99 or even NZD 99 for unlimited mobile broadband 3G You are pretty right, Voda in NZ is sucking blood in NZ due to lack of competition. Well, at least here in Aus we have telstra, Optus, virgin and voda offer iphone so the price is not that bad compared to NZ. But honestly i regret of taking 500mb data plan coz i use less than that each month, only about 130mb, what a waste. Even 1GB is more than enough, unless u dun have pc or u always travel. Well, but looking at the good side, though it is unlimited 3G in malaysia but the signal and connection is not as good as it should be. here u need to pay NZD60 for a 1GB package (the highest 3G data package). The puzzle pieces are falling into place.
I have stated before we needed a couple of conditions before we could ever see a locally launched iPhone in Malaysia. 1. Our own iTunes Music Store. Check! We have that since the launch of the Malaysian iPod Touch. Reason being, the iPhone needs the iTunes to connect online via the iTMS to verify the authenticity of your iPhone, and unlocks it for proper usage (not third part unlock/jailbroken). 2. Our own online Apple Store. Check! This just in a few days back. This is to facilitate the purchase of the iPhone itself, should the locally appointed telco could not cope with the demand. The Online Apple Store also can be used as proxy on behalf of Maxis/or whoever gets the iPhone contract here, to that when the unit itself in purchased via the online Apple Store, the activation process can be directed towards a Maxis-specific portal. 3. A local telco willing to bend over to Apple's whims. This remains to be seen, and remains to be seen if the general public here would respond well to contractual obligations (tied to a two year contract). We are only used to buying our phones and subscribing to plans that measures our talk/data usage AS WE USE THEM, not on a contract basis. Point #3 is the last hurdle needed to be overcome before we see iPhone Malaysian edition. |

@string,
Sorry OT, How's the usage then? I tried the maxis unlimited data plan and the speed and coverage is seriously crap. Thought of changing to Celcom since MNP is around. Thanks for your reply. |

OT mode on.
@derlin, Pretty good, especially around Klang Valley. I roam around KLCC, Kelana Jaya, PJ and the ultimate test, to me at least, is to get acceptable 3G coverage while I'm using it on the ERL train to KLIA. There are several blackout spots but it gets better after passing the Bandar Tasik Selatan station. Coming into Putrajaya, maximum speed, and KLIA, the whole airport is covered with excellent speed as well. This post has been edited by stringfellow: Nov 11 2008, 04:30 PM |

@String and Coolerthings,
OT again! Thanks for the reply. One last question, are u able to login to fring or any messenger using ur data plan (Not wifi)? I tried mine with a few areas (PJ area like SS2, SS16, Sunway area around pyramid, SS15, Kajang, Cheras, Damansara area, all these areas i can't logon at all, it gets timeout. Most of the time i'm on Edge rather than 3G.. Can ignore places like KLCC since bloody maxis tower is so near so surely those places sure can connect.. Note: Maxis Wireless Broadband has the same problem as well! Salutes for your hasty reply! |
