well, i think it's safe to say that every hedgehog has their own preferences, i have been keeping 2 hedgehogs (now 5 including the hoglets but they're not taking solid food yet), and both of them are different in terms of choosing their food. one only eats RC kitten, as fresh as possible, but can't finish a tablespoon a day. the other one pratically eats everything i put in the bowl, whether it's RC babycat, kitten or fit, and sometimes 2 tablespoons aren't enough for it!
i think it's only a rough guide on the selection of food (whether it's RC, eagle pack, etc), you'll need to know which one your hedgehog would like to eat by trying them all. if it's not picky, then you're pretty lucky. |

They are more to insectivours. In the wild they eat worms, insects, snails, small mammals, frogs, eggs, but no particular info on what kind of fruits and vege. I tried giving mine some apple, rose apple, guava but she's not fond of it. So I just stop giving her fruits. |

guys... help me out here. for those who are using BC, do ur hedgies eat it?
My Echt (being a non picky greedy piggimon) eats everything... I just changed to BC from shavings, and yes, he eats the BC pellet.. is it really safe? He's getting green poo... n im quite worried. There's even green patches on his quills today, which im suspecting it's caused by his poo.. *cry* i changed back everything to shavings just now, but... is BC really safe? shud i discontinue use BC? |

I never encounter such thing before.. start from the day I used BC ken never eats it lol did he get enuf food? cuz last time when I'm taking care my friend's glider.. she's try to eat the BC too... and when I give her something to eat she let go the BC... my conclusion is she's hungry althou she eats most of the food there =.=" since u have changed it back to wood shaving do inspect him for these few days... if he's okay then try to change to BC again see what his reaction |

Green poo? Dark green is okay. If Forest green - Bright green then that's something to worry about. I'm not sure about BC, if is not made of toxic materials then it should be safe even if consumed. |

sigh... call him a pig. as long as there's something for him to eat.. he would eat. doesnt matter how much u give him, he will continue eating. i once gave him 1 full bowl of food, thinking he would stop eating after he feel full, but the bowl was empty after 2hrs when i checked on him again. (it's a cat food bowl)
but then normally i would feed him 2 teaspoon of hedgehog staple food, topped with cucumber or blueberries. i cant confirm whether that's enuf for him or not.. coz.. he never stop eat! (he's roughly 4 months old) _______________________ the poo is somewhat dark green..some is lighter.. btw... i think im extremely lucky, coz my hedgehog is 100% pure non-picky. |
