Hi guys, im a new hedgie owner here...well i just got my pet hedgie last week or 2 ago...I got it smuggled from Thai and it's pure milky white colour from the nose to the tail..im not very good with hedgie.. any1 can tell me wat breed can he be?

Anywayz, this post is kinda long.. i actually read the first page to 15...or page 16 n my neck hurts liao~~~ My hedgie is kinda fierce... really untame... i actually tried the "bonding steps" but when i hold it up, it actually tries to bite me n wanna jump away from my hand to escape. and.. it poos everywhere i place it.
anymore tips i can knw? >.<

Oh yeah... im living in penang now. i found hedgie food from a pet shop but they sell nothing else for hedgie... bedding is a big prob too, I never see such bedding as BC, Chipsi classic or so... watever aspen oso dun have (not even for hamsters). I found some wood shaving which is kinda rough but dun think it's good for my Echt.. How then? Any1 from penang here? Or know any tips where I can get bedding for my Echt in penang?

(can I use chipsi plus green apple for hedgie or not? weird the petshop here sell chipsi green apple or some cheap rough bedding only)

im oso suspecting it's from the wild... LOL! got it for rm100... it's a real beauty but the temper is ugly.

i only managed to take clearer pictures... altho it's not that clear cuz it keeps running around

Hey, how did u guys actually potty-train those pokimon? i mean... details on how to do it?

im temporarily using old newspaper as bedding now..i left a tray filled with cat litter inside the cage but my pokimon never use it (even i placed his poopoo inside). He just go poo here n there then step on it and trot trot trot to everywhere all around the cage...make me change the newspaper for him everyday..

Echy allows me to carry him up d... =D but he never stay still. sometimes he thinks my finger is food.

oh yea.. btw.. im staying in Bayan Lepas now. PG island. Really have to order online ah? nobody got any ideas where to find in PG island for the hedgie stuffs?

wah sai... thats so tiring leh~ picking up his pee pee poo poo everytime.

1 thing bad bout using newspaper is.. he stepped on his own poo poo till canot be picked up.. n it's alreeady everywhere inside the cage by the morning i wake up.. feel like wanna cekik him sometimes...

so i fill the potty-tray with the chipsi oso? then just pick his poo n pee n put it there all the time?

aha.. i tot it's shavings.. it clumps up when contact with water?

okay.. i'll try to search around pg for chipsi classic first. if really cant find then have to order online. some1 online 24/7 just checking lowyat. LOL...wat a time to get replies from u.

hey.... oh yea.. is it okay to use a wired bottom cage or not? or shud i place a big plastic tray on top to prevent pokimon's leg getting hurt? the petshop assistant (who claimed to keep pokimon too) told me that the wired-bottom cage is safe for pokimon. =(

I just bought Echy some live grubs today.. i left 1 in the plate for Echy and when he sees it... he rush to it and ate it up so fast... i was shocked to see the reaction... o.O

damn... im so frustrated now... my hermit crab escaped from it's aquarium...... couldn't find it. last time it was my Sebastian that escaped... now it's Hershey's turn.

Pokimon loves to eat those insects that can be found in vege farms. That's wat I read from books. So i guess cacing tanah can do oso if it's free of pesticide?

Madagascar lipas? the beetles? the colourful types? LOL! I can't imagine hedgie eating those.

empty_reg: thx for ur advise, i finally found my hermit crab... it's hiding somewhere near Echy!!! I found it when I was watching Echy playin around n suddenly heard a noise... then I saw something clinging on to Echy's cage! lolz

I just bought Echy the bedding.... n it's so comfy with the bedding that it sleep like a lazy piggy... i cant actually find where he pee on it...n he bury his poo poo... =.=

sumore.. he keep digging the bedding thinking there's food under it....making tunnels..

My sebastian is not a hermit... it's a normal mini red crab... dun really knw wat to call it.

I dun feel itchy for touching hedgie's quills... maybe my skin is not so sensitive to it.

Walao...my hedgie will go crazy when he sees mealworm.. from a shy shy hedgie become agreesive 1... after finish mealworm will run around so fast then if i put my hand inside he will try to eat my hand. o.O but since after i feed him the mealworm once... he is always agressive d.... is it normal or something wrong?

Wah kelvin... u make it sounds so easy...

I din hand feed my hedgie mealworms... i use chopstick to "kiap" it n place it in his bowl... but hor... now i stop feeding him mealworms... but when i tried to pick his bowl out... he'll bite my hand.. or whenever i put anything inside the cage... it oso bite my hand. o.O including i hold something n move around the cage.. he runs after it trying to bite it.... scary leh!!

oh yea.. once the mealworm is near Echy.. he runs so fast towards it (like lion hunting prey) and chew everything... its like.. how to lure??

any more details on how to train/tame hedgie?

btw.. i bought Echy a wheel... he never bother using it at all.. but instead he just run around the cage everynight for whole night long... =.= n hor... he doesnt sleep in the hide-out house i bought for him anymore.. but sleep outside curled up...

well... for now yeah.. patience is always the key.. but i find it.. entertaining. LOL~ How can hedgehog be so CUTEEEEEEEEE!! I wanna change his name from Echy to "Xiao Sha Gua"... yet so cute~ especially when he plays with toilet roll... give him house.. he dun wan... give him exercise wheel.. he dun wan.. give him toilet roll.. he tries to squeeze inside.. his playing with the exercise ball i got for him now.. running around the house knocking everything.
