No problem, I used to keep hermit crabs. A colony of them at my house 2 years ago, gave all away cause need to study at Johor. Erm, your Sebastian, a strawberry?

Haha. Mine doesn't dig anymore after I compact the bedding by pressing it down with the feeder bowl. *Observed that they prefer to sleep on flat surface, maybe if your hide out place has a flat bottom, they won't bother digging* As for pee, I can't differentiate as well. Haha. But doesn't really stinks, change bedding bi-weekly.

Not sure if this is just me. Like to ask, do you people felt itchy after being poked by the quills? Especially when the hedgie is kind of not so clean?
*
My sebastian is not a hermit... it's a normal mini red crab... dun really knw wat to call it.
Can't find any strawberry here. =(

I dun feel itchy for touching hedgie's quills... maybe my skin is not so sensitive to it.

Btw, is albino rare?? o.O

that is one wish that all hedgie owner have in their mind.
yep, they can be toilet trained.
observe their favorite poo spot, pick up their poo and put it in a poo tray.
then hope the hedgie will got the point. hehe.
this my friend, does require patient and consistency. nod.gif

Poo Tray, how does it looks like? Any pic to share? How easy or hard to train a hedgie to use the tray to release themselve?

well,

actually it depends on the owner to choose.
some use the ferret poo tray, the triangle one.
some use the small baking pan.
be creative is the key. happy.gif

electroyid: bonai usually active in midnight to early morning time. hehe.

Omisa, where have you been? Busy lately? Your hedgie all released? Sorry about the cancellation.

Litter training. Erm, for mine, is depends on her mood. She pee and poo in the ice cream turperware. But that's only if I don't provide her a wheel to run on. She'll ignore the litter thing and poo on the wheel while running if I provide her one.
Thus most often I don't give her, her wheel until she is finish poo~ing. But sometimes she'll still poo and pee outside the tupperware, maybe too small gua...

Hiyuki: Albino is common. I think champagne is quite rare.

The ice cream tupperware was intended to be a toy for her to hide. Not as a litter tray~ blush.gif

Omisa: Thanks alot that you filled me in with lots of details regarding hedgie last time. I have no permanent hide-out box. I use newspaper roll only. I took it out in that picture to let her try on the wheel.

Electroyid: Erm, I tickle her cheek every night. Take her out and play by putting her on my lap. Let her walk around my bed sometimes. But I make sure she's clean first lo. At first she'll be reluctant, but you can try to give her some meal worms to let her relax.

hehehe.

knowledge are meant to be shared. happy.gif
owh. newspaper roll also ok. hedgie just love dark places, tunnels.

to bond: spend time with your hedgie. everyday. try hand feed, give them treats. get it used with your smell.

Yes, they will poo on bed. Especially when they are afraid, and not used to the smell. I kena once before. But the poo is solid, not very sticky - not very messy lo.

For toilet tray. I can't 100% guarantee this. But I'm quite satisfied with mine. Mine use the tupperware as a place to relieve herself, and since the tupperware is far too small for her, sometimes she stick her head in to poo, but her rear is outside. So... my bad. And this is only true if I don't give her the wheel until she is done poo~ing.

However, according to many sources from the web and from the experience of other owners here. It depends. More info :-
here
and here

When training starts young, chances are higher I pressume. There's a seller in GarageSales selling hoglets that are potty trained. So info from her will be more accurate.
