Bro,
Had time to check the 24fps playback for DVD yet?
*
My old TV doesn't support 24p playback bro. So, can't test that. The TV is next in my upgrade list. sweat.gif

QUOTE(chinmh @ Dec 12 2008, 12:09 PM)
Bro Aiman,

How's the pana dvd playback compared to PS3? Region locked?
*
Haven't tested on DVDs, I don't intend to. I plan to use it as a dedicated BD player only. Already got another DVD player. But yes, it's region locked. You can buy the mod kit to make it region free for both BD and DVD for 88 euro.

QUOTE(rx330 @ Dec 12 2008, 01:17 PM)
yea, ur 80gb pricing shud be still ok, i think sell it off at rm 800 shud be fine

Just to share some info...

Went over to Amcorp over lunch and saw that 'TBM' having some warehouse sales there at the concourse area, they have the Pana BD-30@RM1399, Samsung 1400@RM1k and the Sharp BD20A@RM1299....

quite old models though... blink.gif

They have some LCD /plasma TVs and some HTiBs on sale as well- i think mostly older models, but did not have the time to browse thru as was rushing back to office...

aiman...there's some code you can use on those universal remote controllers to break the code for the DVD playback (only) for that BD35......then again, if you wont be using it for DVD...i guess no point.

Anfieldude, bitstream rocks! The audio actually feels crispier and adds more weight to it, like the sound stage opened up a bit. And picture seems to have better blacks and sharper than the PS3. It may all just be placebo, but what the heck, I'm enjoying this. rclxm9.gif

Apisgogo and Htkaki, don't wait anymore. Get yours quick! brows.gif

Glau, I got it for US$222 from Amazon with free super-saver shipping to Apisgogo's USA re-shipping address. They re-shipped to me using DHL, the charge is lower than DHL's online price. You can ask Apisgogo for the re-shipping quotes.

Piscesguy, I don't have a good analogue cables to test that yet, not interested to use the cap ayam one that came with the player. tongue.gif

Rthj, yes, free 2 BDs but have to mail in and they will send to US address only. Currently got no one there staying long enough to do it, the offer ends February 2009 I think.

Again, thanks to Apisgogo for making this happen. thumbup.gif

Hi aiman,

Can you share with me the dimension of this player? Will be going to the States next month and wonder if it is convenient to carry this unit back by hand?

Thanks

Nevermind. Over 16-inch width means it will not fit into my carry-on bag easily.

Really ar? Only with the universal remotes, such as the Harmony's?

Even I don't use for DVD, still nice to have it region free. biggrin.gif

That offer is BD55 which is $100 more expensive, not BD35. Was considering that, but then I don't need the analogue outs on BD55. And even with the $100 discount it's still out of my budget because of the BD movies which I already have. BD35 is just perfect for me.

No, it doesn't. I bought a 100W stepdown transformer to get 120V. Only paid RM68 for it. And you also might have to buy an SD card for BD-Live, a cheap 1GB will do.

I checked their website, the mod kit alone is €69 with another €19 for shipping worldwide. But with this mod kit, you have to open the player, and solder the chips yourself. For BD35, there's up to 10 soldering to be done. So you'll need some soldering skill too. sweat.gif

The modded player they're selling for €499 which is really expensive for me. So, the best way is to buy from US and install the mod kit ourselves. If you really want to mod lah.

The box dimension is 21x15x8 inches. You can just check-in the player's box itself, it's really light, around 4 kg (non-volumetric weight). The customs could just let you walk. Even if taxed, only 10% for electronic items which is less than RM100. That's still very cheap considering you don't have to pay for shipping. thumbup.gif

Hi sifus, i was wondering on the pioneer LX51. I was at HNorman and the fella was offreing the player at 2199 with a free HDMI cable. It also allowed for interest free payment too. Shall I? very tempted.

Or I may just upgrade my current DVD player to a better one.

Thanks

aiman, yes, universal remote like Harmony and URC....google for it...its on some forum..avforums if not mistaken.

the mod kit retailer in Stockholm will do the mod job as well...for SEK1195...that is about RM450....but first I need to get the UK BD35 first, for the right voltage. then i might consider sending/bringing it to STO to be modded.

from the picture you posted, the PS3 is on top of the DVD player and the BD player? wouldnt that be a bit of load on the bd player?

I see.. Actually the PS3 is at the back standing directly on the table. The only thing on the BDP is the DVDP, which very light. biggrin.gif

Go for it bro. brows.gif

However, the PS3 is still one of the best. It's just that I've always want a standalone BDP since day one. But none of them at that time can rival the PS3 in almost everything. But now, with BD35, I can finally get my standalone player that can rival the PS3, and even wins over in some ways. thumbup.gif
