good news . BD lovers. Sony chops another $100 of the their PS3 and only one model will be sold once the current 40GB models are sold out.
This 80 model however doesnt support PS2 games. This is a non issue if you want it for BD movies only |

QUOTE(JonC @ Jul 18 2008, 11:37 AM) exact same spot as the current 40gb ver. except with the bigger hd hmm Sony is making more $$ on this model than the 40GB then anyhow - if its for BD movie watching movie . Lets use the 80GB memory as persistent memory for BD Live features |

QUOTE(aiman04 @ Jul 20 2008, 07:14 AM) Most new AVRs now can decode DTS-HD Master Audio onboard. This S350 can bitstream it, so no worrries there (I actually prefer bitstreaming actually). Bitstream (core only) = core = DTS trackI would really consider this if I see reviews say that it load BDs faster than PS3, and retails at lower than RM2k locally (fat hope, maybe can get it from SG). Local announcement here: http://www.lowyat.net/v2/latest/sony-unvei...c-player-5.html ![]() ![]() |

QUOTE(aiman04 @ Jul 20 2008, 07:29 AM) Is that from the S350 manual? It doesn't bitstream HBR audio? I thought I read somewhere that it does. yes page 62 of the S350 manual. some people want my head because i pointed that that Sony manual says bitstream support for DTS HD and DTS HD Master is DTS Core only - and pointed out the same S350 manual from Sony! Then I can't consider this model. Panasonic BD30 is still the best choice now. Now let's see how it compares between Sony S550 and Panasonic BD50. Added on July 20, 2008, 7:32 amBlu-ray.com is saying that it can bitstream HBR: http://www.blu-ray.com/players/players.php?id=62&show=specs i just dont think its logical to sell player specs that is sooo similar on S350 ($400) and on S550 ($500) . I would say the S550 will either decode HD and HD MA or bitstream non core only HD and HD MA. |

QUOTE(fentanyl @ Jul 20 2008, 11:46 PM) no need to source blu-ray.com when my source is the Sony S350 Blu-ray Disk player manual. It says the player bitstreams dts-hd and dts-hd ma but DTS Core only. And plus dun overstate Core only bitstream.According to DTS' white paper - the Core track in dts-hd and dts-hd ma = 48hz sampling frequency and up to 1.5mb data rate. dts-hd ma sampling rate is over 100hz while the data rate is several times WAY OVER 1.5mb. so basically on DTS Core only hd-ma bitstreaming, you are basically getting DTS Core while your receiver's dts-hd ma diod is lighted. ![]() |

QUOTE(arremie @ Jul 22 2008, 01:57 PM) I got RM4k but if possible I don't want to spend more than RM3k so I can use the extra to get Wharfy 250 or Velo 10R. check my post. I just saved you RM2000. next time to pass through a counter to WWW donation box. You can just put the RM2000 into the box. Thanks for saving the planet |

QUOTE(rx330 @ Jul 22 2008, 02:50 PM) i think aerremie better build his own blurayplayer, lagi senang clothing from Abercrombie.com is not that heavy g5sim, i need to correct u on some issues, u pernah import things from US or not? tax isnt base alone on the product pricing, the shipping cost is taxable as well. biasa i kena is 30 % of the total product and shipping price of a nearly RM1,000 purchase - charged nearly RM200. FedEx paid for me. I paid the fedex guy at my door step. if the tax is inclusive of shipping then - need not worry - use Maybank American Express Global E-shope service. Get them to charge the shipping fee on your American Express card. I think i want to try that one out. more choices of online retailer - cheaper - product and shipping price oso http://www.comgateway.com/COMGATEWAY/secur...Registration.do Weight Express Delivery Standard Delivery 1kg - US$39.99 US$18.00 1.5kg - US$44.49 US$20.25 2kg - US$48.99 US$22.50 2.5kg - US$53.49 US$24.75 3kg - US$57.99 US$27.00 3.5kg - US$62.49 US$29.25 Subsequent Half kg and part thereof US$4.50 US$2.25 * Surcharge of US$5 applies for deliveries outside key cities. QUOTE(rx330 @ Jul 23 2008, 10:41 AM) Express Delivery = $40Standard Delivery = $18 the first price is Express followed by Standard. Ex colleague tried standard (bought HTPC casing) said Standard enuf liau. But he bought casing , and we are talking about BD player. Anyhow the express delivery is still cheaper than bhphotos' shipping charges oh btw - they also clear the custom for you and charge on your American Express card (maybe need to add note on order) i forgot - maybe automatic This post has been edited by g5sim: Jul 23 2008, 12:12 PM |
