I never thought of that, although I have my doubts, seeing how the Narada was sucked though a BIG A$$ black/worm hole.....

The USS Vengeance reminded me more of the USS Excelsior from The Search for Spock....sabotaged by Scotty!

Even the shape seems similar....well to me anyway.

Crap, I thinking of downloading back all Star Trek episodes and movies from before since I didn't watch em all before, only a bit of here and there. But seeing this, damn its too many already. Will just enjoys this new franchise reboot then, be it another movies or perhaps another series.

I suggest the TOS and TNG tv series, dont bother with VOY, DS9 or enterprise since those were made after gene roddenberry death.

Especially TNG i can give you some recommendation for notable episodes to watch since i have them in my collection.

there are some redeeming features for VOY and DS9. if u like funny stuff, DS9 has a shxt load of them. if u like hot woman, VOY has seven of nine.

Your watching the wrong scifi show if you want sexy women lol.

In my opinion, VOY was the worst of the bunch for creating alot of discrepancy in the trek universe in regards to the tech being used in that universe, especially warp 10 speed issues. Plus the captain biatch was a terrible person since she didnt really have a set standard of morals and will switch her tune more often than not when it suits her needs and her crew. She like those katak politicians who jump if they see someone offer a better deal than standing their ground on principal.

DS9 captain got no character and feels like a black version of data, expression is blank and his voice makes me wanna goto sleep. Plus it wasnt about exploring new shit but fighting and politicking most of the time.

Enterprise was sad since they mirror the conlifct with the taliban as a premise for the tv show.

I admit VOY is really crap in season 1, that's why they invented seven of nine, she literally saved the show. not to mention they have the Borg as enemies, starting season 2 it's actually ok to watch. anyhow, DS9 is still my favorite.

In TNG, the borg was a fearsome enemy and not to be f****** with.

In voyager, just one shitty fed ship can go up against an armada or even against one cube is ridiculous and makes the borg less fearsome and more like your run of the mill enemy or even pirate.

Plus the crap they can modify and think up on the fly to escape near death situations make it very unlikely in an unknown region of space with no backup or support.

in TNG the borg is NOT their main rival, they only come out once in a blue moon, and at the end of TNG. Personally I can't get enough of the Borg so I find TNG really boring at times.



and don't forget, one of the coolest species in the history of sci-fi is in VOY

+1. Best movie of the year so far, cant wait for more. i dont know why but i got a feeling like im watching star wars especially when the scene inside marcus ship. Cant wait for star wars sequel.

Just watched this in IMAX 3D and I agree with the rest. If there's a movie now that should be watched in IMAX, its this. The 3D is also the best I've seen since Avatar. I swear I actually dodged a spear that was being thrown towards the screen at the beginning.

I was never a Star Trek fan. The previous movie is the only one I've seen before this. That one didn't quite grab me but I really enjoyed this one. The special effects is also one of the most jaw dropping ones I've seen for some time.
Shame about the cuts though. You don't get to see the blonde in her bikini. Looks like I'll keep replaying the trailer for now to see it.

I started this thread to do reviews of the Star Trek The Next Generation (which has been release on Bluray)

I just haven't got the time to write alot there at this point in time (haven't got time to rewatch TNG)

I promise I'll get around to them as soon as I can.

I know alot of fans would probably criticize me for not recommending the original

I just think that to modern viewer, it would seem a little jaded....

coming out of cinema...jj abram has succesfully made a movie called movie and not those crappy movies like iron man and stuff like tat( well they r to me comedy or sort of random action movie) it totally deserve the movie of the year title..

and yet there ppl calling it a boring movie so i will juz leave it thr...

It is by no means a boring movie, it's just a bland movie in comparison to the previous one. it isn't exciting enough, not original enough, not WOW enough. The previous one hits the jackpot on all of that, this one is just "the usual stuff" like any other action movie that had been done to death. the ONLY redeeming thing in this movie are the actors, as I've said time and again, my favorite 2 actors in the world are in it - Benedict C and Zachary Q. and they are exceptional, others like Chris P. Karl U and Simon P are awesome as well. The biggest let down is the plot, the stakes are just not big enough....
