what i like about this alternate timeline series is how well they can pull off the scene when spock met and communicate with spock prime... it could have been such a huge screw up but they managed to pull it off, not only in the 1st movie

i didn't expect he (spock) would call him up (spock prime) in this 2nd movie

i love the idea of the alternate universe, i like the attempt from the first movie injecting 'fresh impetus' into the Star Trek franchise. kudos for the great first film.

Somewhere in this movie, i had the sense of deja vu. I felt we been there before, and somehow I felt i knew the plot the moment kirk set out to space to kill "john harrison". As much as i tired to not over think (ahead) the developments in the movie, it got difficult in the sense, i sense & anticipated every other sequence developments of the plot. kinda like deja vu.

Earlier someone said 'Kirk' death in the end & then back to life felt 'clique'. Yes, did for me too. it wasn't just kirk's death but the whole motion (movie) half way onwards.

In that i hate to say this, the movie didn't seem to 'Boldly' go to something fresh(er). I want to like (movie much) what they have done or tried to do to bring the franchise forward to today's (new) market. Maybe it did set out and manage to satisfy curious new sci-fi fans. But for someone who had the whole understanding of the original ST & the subsequent ST cast, the follow up movies (post captain kirk, spork)

But unfortunately, and i say again with some sadness, this didn't boldly go enough for fresh originality. I do like the sequence of action in this movie, the great dialogue..the chemistry of kirk & spock & bones/enterprise chew..awesome.

I would like (& hope) to see this movie go the distances & hopefully enough to justify another Star Trek 3 with the current cast. but maybe not with JJ abrams at the helm.
(pretty sure he is into star wars after this & never ever into sitting for the 3rd instalment )

after this 2nd, I hope they can take more risk on the story since its an alternate universe. The re-imaging part i felt was revisited on the first film, this felt like version 1.1 of it. A little upgrade so to speak. same frills, a little of the familiarity

'Star Trek' is about breaking new grounds, the nemesis or villain might be the same. Luc pirard' next enterprise series too had klingons as original captain (william shatner) kirk but it was different & felt 'new'

As i said, it (this) was a good fun film, my only wish they could have taken more risk in the story. To boldly go where no one has gone before

Plus, the fact that we all knew Kirk was not going to die sucked all the tension out of it. Hopefully for Star Trek 3 they will simply employ existing characters in a wholly original way.

I'm a BIG fan of Benedict Cumberbatch's Sherlock, but his character here is SO COLD BLOODED, he makes Arnold Schwarzenegger's Mr Freeze, practically a warm, fluffy bunny...

the problem with the USS Vengeance is it's speed......i thought at that time they haven't achieved more than warp 10 yet, it's still theoretical, so how can it catch up with the enterprise during warp? sorry for the technical nitpicking.....

I believe that the Enterprise at this stage can only do Warp 5... All the USS Vengeance need to do is warp 5.1...
