QUOTE(CKC_1 @ Sep 24 2009, 01:26 PM) Hope the below answers your question BD's Special Features Disc 2 To Boldly Go: Taking on the world's most beloved science fiction franchise was no small mission. Director J.J. Abrams, writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, producer Damon Lindelof, and executive producer Bryan Burk talk about the many challenges they faced and their strategy for success. o Branching Pods: + The Shatner Conundrum + Red Shirt Guy + The Green Girl + Trekker Alert! Casting: The producers knew their greatest task was finding the right cast to reprise these epic roles. The cast, for their part, talk about the experience of trying to capture the essence of these mythic characters. The piece concludes with a moving tribute to Leonard Nimoy. A New Vision: J.J. Abrams' vision was not only to create a Star Trek that was a bigger, more action-packed spectacle, but also to make the spectacle feel real. Every aspect of production--from unique locations to the use of classic Hollywood camera tricks--was guided by this overall objective. o Branching Pods: + Savage Pressure Starships (BD-exclusive): Abrams and production designer Scott Chambliss were careful to pay tribute to the design of the original Enterprise, but they also wanted to make it futuristic and cool for a modern audience. This chapter focuses on the unique stories behind the creation of the film's starships. o Branching Pods: + Warp Explained + Paint Job + Bridge Construction Accelerated + The Captain's Chair + Button Acting 101 + Shuttle Shuffle + Narada Construction Accelerated Aliens: Designers Neville Page and Joel Harlow talk about the hurdles they faced creating new alien species, recreating the Romulans and Vulcans, and designing the terrifying creatures on Delta Vega for the new Star Trek. o Branching Pods: + The Alien Paradox + Big-Eyed Girl + Big Bro Quinto + Klingons + Drakoulias Anatomy 101 Planets (BD-exclusive): From the frozen landscape of Delta Vega to the desert plains of Vulcan, Scott Chambliss and the art department had a number of radically different planets to create. Abrams' desire to shoot on real locations whenever possible led the production team to a number of strange and surprising locations. o Branching Pods: + Extra Business + Confidentiality Props and Costumes (BD-exclusive): Property master Russell Bobbitt had the unique challenge of designing props that were both true to the original series and pertinent to today's technology. Likewise, costume designer Michael Kaplan talks about how he designed costumes that paid homage to what came before yet were relevant and timeless. o Branching Pods: + Klingon Wardrobe Ben Burtt and the Sounds of Star Trek (BD-exclusive) : When famed sound designer Ben Burtt was hired to create sounds for the first Star Wars film, he took his inspiration from the original "Star Trek" series. Burtt jumped at the opportunity to pay tribute to the sounds that sparked his career with the sounds he created for the new Star Trek. Score: As a fan of the original series, composer Michael Giacchino embraced the challenge of creating new music for Star Trek while preserving the spirit of Alexander Courage's celebrated theme. Gene Roddenberry's Vision (BD-exclusive): J.J. Abrams, Leonard Nimoy, previous Star Trek writers and producers, and scientific consultant Carolyn Porco describe and commend the optimistic and enduring vision of Gene Roddenberry. Nine deleted scenes with optional commentary Starfleet Vessel Simulator (BD-exclusive):Explore extensive data on the U.S.S. Enterprise and the Romulan ship, the Narada. Submerse yourself in breathtaking 360 views and close-ups and review detailed tech information. Gag Reel: Bloopers featuring the entire principal cast. DVD's Special Features Disc 2: Digital Copy Deleted Scenes with Optional Commentary Spock Birth Klingons Take Over Narada Young Kirk, Johnny and Uncle Frank Amanda and Sarek Argue After Spock Fights Prison Interrogation and Breakout Sarek Gets Amanda Dorm Room and Kobayashi Maru (original version) Kirk Apologizes to the Green Girl Sarek Sees Spock To Boldly Go— Taking on the world’s most beloved science fiction franchise was no small mission. Source:- http://www.beyondhollywood.com/khan-will-n...ar-trek-sequel/ Second, Their unnamed source went on to say, When asked for more clarification the source just laughed. So there you have it. More cryptic tidbits about the “Star Trek” sequel to feed the rumor mill and create hearsay. While this doesn’t really tell you much, before long all of these little details are going to come together and form like Voltron to give a clearer picture of what the movie may or may not be about. Until then, speculate wildly, my pretties!

Interesting I'm currrently rewatching Star Trek TOS, and it so happens that I just finished watching Space Seed (1967) where Ricardo Montalban first took on the role of Khan in Star Trek. It is very interesting that in the said episode, it ended with Khan being exiled to a barren planet to start anew, and he was positive about it. And in the Second Star Trek movie, the exile took it's toll and Khan was driven to have his revenge on Captain Kirk... Also interesting that Earth in the 1990's had a Eugenics War in which perfect man (and women) took to space to start a new colony of Perfect Men, with Khan as their leader!! So we are the survivors of an Eugenics Wars??!! :lol |

Star Trek Into Darkness (2013)
With 84 episodes of Star Trek The original Series, 178 episodes of Star Trek The Next Generation, 172 episodes of Star Trek Voyager, 176 episodes of Star Trek Deep Space Nine, 98 episodes of Star Trek Enterprise and NOT TO MENTION 12 theatrical films (phew, what a mouth full), can J.J. Abrams and gang pull of the impossible??! Another fresh, original and fanboy pleasing Star Trek movie?? I believe the answer is YES!! Story - fresh, original, entertaining, brilliant and there are themes that are revisited (I believe the Hollywood term is "re-imagine") Pacing - Unbelievable Cast - Perfect! Action - Non stop Picture Quality - Eye Popping Imax 3D Sound Quality - Is the Enterprise chasing my A$$??!! Downside?? You betcha. Zachary Quinto and Leonard Nimoy I believe had since become fast friends. I believe Chris Pine had very cockily stated that he was to make Kirk his own character... I believe they are both channeling their predecessors... They are both developing... a pot belly...! (Damn you form fitting Star Trek uniforms... Damn you...) It have been more then 3 years since we last saw Chris as Kirk, and all the new found fame and wealth and my assumption partying is taking their toll on Chris... he has AGED!! But I digress and I'm nitpicking... I really hope that they make another Star Trek movie, WAY BEFORE fours years from now. This movie is gonna make Paramount ALOT of money. The question is whether Paramount is willing to give all players their share so everyone will come back. Another concern would be J.J Abrams had since sign on to another monster project, Star Wars VII... Do I LOVE this movie? If I wasn't being clear, HELL YES!! DO I want more??? YES PLEASE WITH SUGAR ON TOP. As always... My two Sen. P.S. Please note that our Censorship board had decided to make 3 VERY OBVIOUS CUTS from the movie... QUOTE(Claire Farron @ May 16 2013, 07:56 PM) That has actually been done, in Star Trek: Nemesis (2002) which almost killed the franchises (nothing wrong with the movie, it is just that the movie expected every viewer to be a fanboy, and judging by the number of attendees.... that is exactly what had happened...)This post has been edited by Mov_freak: May 17 2013, 12:15 AM |

QUOTE(koolspyda @ May 17 2013, 12:19 AM) I can see where you are coming from...You sense of deva ju is valid. The timeline had changed, but the chess pieces (so to speak) remains the same. Hence, in my post, I used the term, "re-imagine" I believe the huge percentage of fanboys (okay, Trekkers) need familiarity, in my humble opinion, I agree with the direction that J.J. Abrams and gang had taken. Please understand that it is just my opinion and I really do understand your point of view. This post has been edited by Mov_freak: May 17 2013, 12:40 AM |

QUOTE(crapp0 @ May 17 2013, 12:56 AM) I beg to differ, it was enterprise tv show which almost killed the trek franchise since it was stale and they had to put in bad guys called the "suliban", sound familiar? After they intro that enemy i stopped watching it. I'm afraid I had expressed myself poorly...I meant Star Trek Nemesis, almost killed the Star Trek movie franchises.... |

QUOTE(Claire Farron @ May 17 2013, 07:27 AM) Or maybe it's because of the reverse enginering that they did to Nero's ship from the first movie From wiki: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « also worth mentioning, The Narada itself was actually reverse-engineered from a Borg ship » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « I never thought of that, although I have my doubts, seeing how the Narada was sucked though a BIG A$$ black/worm hole..... |

QUOTE(SerbaSerbi @ May 18 2013, 12:06 AM) Hey guysA suggestion. I have got a Star Trek TV Series thread Star Trek TV Series which I feel is more appropriate location to discussed the Star Trek TV Series. I started this thread to do reviews of the Star Trek The Next Generation (which has been release on Bluray) I just haven't got the time to write alot there at this point in time (haven't got time to rewatch TNG) I promise I'll get around to them as soon as I can. QUOTE(lord_aminkin @ May 17 2013, 05:24 PM) Crap, I thinking of downloading back all Star Trek episodes and movies from before since I didn't watch em all before, only a bit of here and there. But seeing this, damn its too many already. Will just enjoys this new franchise reboot then, be it another movies or perhaps another series. At least try out the Star Trek The Next Generation! I know alot of fans would probably criticize me for not recommending the original I just think that to modern viewer, it would seem a little jaded.... If you like the next gen, then consider the original!! Cheers |

QUOTE(koolspyda @ May 18 2013, 12:16 PM) The original (ST kirk, spork & gang) had some of the most memorable episodes. Granted production look dated vs the newer STNG & the the rest. It's classic & fun I agree with you about the Original series...It would be super if they consider another ST after this I just don't believe many non trekker would agree... I would really LOVE another Star Trek movie. The current one would make ALOT of money and therefore, the chance is high!! |
