hmm, but wouldnt a chew toy help the hamsters not chew like mad on the cages? if i buy a cage i would buy a stainless steel one of course unsure.gif
what about the hamu kichi cages?
*
The chew toy will depend on the hamster. Some will chew on it. Some won't chew on it at all. Some will chew for awhile and then ignore it. The same goes for the toilet roll. This is base on all the syrian we have.

Even if you managed to find a stainless steel cage, it will be very expensive. If you can find it.

This cage? http://www.petshack.com.my/webshaper/store...ProductItem=513

It's more suitable for dwarf hamster than syrian hamster. Please know that syrian can grow until 6-7" in length.

The best choice would be a 2 feet plastic tank. And it's not that expensive compared to those fancy hamster cages/tanks. And it's easier to clean compared to those fancy cages/tanks.

Also the wheel for the syrian have to be at least 8" in diameter. Anything smaller in diameter would only harm the syrian's back in the long run.

hmm, from your responses it seems i'll more likely get a plastic tank nod.gif
but i dont have a big budget, so the zooone is a tad expensive, even with jtl's starter kit,
how big is the 2ft tank btw? and is there anything like that but bigger unsure.gif

I don't really have the dimensions for a 2 feet tank but it is enough space for 1 syrian.

If you want bigger then you need to decide on the zoozone 1 or the biggest is zoozone 2 (3 feet tank).

I would recommend a zoozone1 as it is more than enough for 1 syrian. Me and sangels have zoozone2 for our syrian JackJack. It's huge! sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif

Or you can do what Neshie did for her sable banded syrian, buy a huge storage box and modify it with ventalation holes, etc... You can see some pics of it in the last couple of pages. This is also an inexpensive way to get a bigger home for your soon to be coming syrian.

Ok. Anyway., besides the particular breed of your hamster, it could be she wasn't hand tamed and doesn't know it's wrong to bite.

The only hamster i ever got who nips me is Fat Fat and I think she wants to be more dominant than me. Hehe...

@deleted: a 2 ft tank is adequate for a syrian and very spacious for 2-4 robos. 2ft tanks are... well... 2 ft long. sweat.gif

JackJack used to stay in a 2 feet tank with a Sanko 21cm Silent Wheel. He so smart till he is able to climb up to top of the wheel using the side of the tank and wheel. He would then start biting at the lid of the 2 feet tank trying to escape. That's when me and sangels decided to get something bigger for him to stay in. Bought the zoozone2 for PetsMore Cheras after that.

Zoozone2 got less chance to climb up the wheel. But nowadays he have been trying new tactics to escape for the Zoozone2. He will climb on top of hideout, wooden bridge, etc and jump up to reach higher. I can tell you that JackJack can jump more than 50% of his height standing on his 2 feet. sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif

ya u can buy a container for the sand, or u can buy a bathroom for hamsters, fill with bathing sand & put inside ur tank..

to litter train, first u gotta get litter sand.. usually some hamsters will automatically pee there.. but some may not, so u have to take the bedding with their pee & place in the litter sand..
