Hey guys, am thinking of buying a syrian sometime around end of the month or early next month when i move to my new house.
Is Pets World in Midvalley a good place to buy my hamster and get the other stuff? unsure.gif
or is there some other place i can go to? unsure.gif
am staying in cheras, my friend will be driving me when i want to go buy it, so if got other locations prefer not to hard to find places smile.gif
thanks!

Added on July 4, 2008, 11:20 pmAlso how much would it cost me for
1 syrian
+ Cage
+ Wheel
+ Bedding that can absorb the smell of the urine
+ Chew toy
+ Water bottle
+ food
+ the rolling ball thing so it can run around the house

and what are the recommended brands for the food and bedding and cage? and should i get a plastic/glass cage or a mesh? unsure.gif

Please avoid getting your syrian from PW in MV. The syrian would not be tamed or unhealthy.

You can get from JTL's sales thread (Promoting JTL again tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif Got more discounts for promoting? Hehehe... Kidding...)
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/727957/

You can visit JTL's pet shop, Pet Shack, in Sunway Mentari. Please see the map in the link below.

A highly recommended pet shop and seller. thumbup.gif thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

they are prone to accidents when they climb, they can break their legs when fell off..
and also they chew the cage bars.. it will hurt their mouth. many ppl have told me that their hammy mouth bleeding cause chewing cage bars..
i have seen my hammy playing "batman" and fell off with a "tuck", it scares me.. since then i will always observe them, if they play "batman" or chew cage bars, i will scoope them away.. sad.gif

although i am also using cages, but i am not encouraging others using..
i will change to plastic tank also one day..

Please do not get a steel cage as the lil guy will develop a bad habit of biting/chewing the steel bars. This will harm it's nose and mouth. Also rust will develop and it can poison the lil guy. Please consider a 2 feet tank or, if can, a zoozone1.

Well the more you buy of course there will be discount. Other pet shops requires you to buy RM100 and above to apply for their VIP/member card which gives you 10% discount. Till now me and sangels couldn't get the member card from Pet's Lover Center after spending so much when we first got our robos.

If possible, don't get a steel bar cage. Why? Because it rusts. And also because hamsters will chew it, which causes mouth injury. Not a pretty thing to look at. Plus you won't like the sound of incessant chewing. It's annoying!

Not all hamsters can be trained to stop chewing steel bars and rusts mixed with their saliva creates a poison that will build up pvertime and kill your hamster. Plus trying to train them to stop is exhausting... Takes a lot of patience and effort. Save yourself the trouble and get a 2ft tank.

blush.gif Sometimes it's not about what's the cheapest. JTL's set is made prepared for a hamster's need. Pet Shack is the most trustworthy shop I have ever come accross. All her syrians are fat and round~ I feel in love with my first hamster there. Roche was my second love, followed by Ferro. Then Hun's Satin. tongue.gif Plus the hamsters there are tame and pretty!

Just get a wheel if you want it to exercise.

blush.gif This is quite true. When you have those cages, you can only extend 1 hand and grab your hamster. You can't use the proper way of scooping a hamster, which is with 2 hands cuz the entrance is simply too small. This makes them frightened of "the big thing that wants to get me!" in their perspective.

I'm also using a cage so I usually wait for them to clim out on their own when they want to come out. I don wanna grab them when not necessary.

The hamsters love the taste of metal. They won't pick the chew toy over the steel bars. So far I don't know any cages that have stainless steel bars but chewing still causes injury to th mouth.

Plus not all hamsters like to chew wood or chew toys. My Ferro only chews the bars when i confiscate his wheel but never his chew toy and my Roche is a horrid chewer of absolutely everything. I spent countless hours sitting in front of her cage teaching her that she isn't suppose to chew the bars. It's exhausting.

And a real plus is that plastic tanks are CHEAPER than the steel bar tanks and not to mention so much easier to clean. So better for hamster health and also cheaper, I'd pick that option.

So the question is, do you want a cage that looks nice for you or do you want a cage that works best for your hamster's well being in a long run?

blush.gif I'm the straightforward type but I'm not flaming you or anyting.

@Tina: rclxms.gif I'm so glad to hear it. So now just make sure your enclosure is escape proof lo.

Guys want to ask something. A friend gave me 2 hamsters last week. Been trying to get them used to me.

So far the male one lets me hold him no problem but the female one bites when I try to hold her. Even when i put my hand down and let her walk over she still bites. Any reason why?
