i hear a lot of silly things about HD4870x2

but lets think about it for a second

if two hd4870 uses 4x6pin pcie

that means HD4870x2 is either 2x6pin pcie + 1x8pin pcie
or 2x8pin pcie...

do u have psu's that can handle that??
not many ppl here does..

think about it..
judging from the hd3870 crossfire 2x6pin to hd3870x2 using 1x6pin+1x8pin
*
It's 160 watt, 4870's wattage that is. Since x2 would probably be clocked lower, expect 300 watt. Four of those would be um... 1200 watt. Now we need 1500 watt psus, which doesn't exist yet (I've always wondered if 2 psu setups are possible). Maybe 4870x2 would be using a smaller fabrication, 45nm perhaps? That saves power. They're with AMD anyway so that should be possible smile.gif . Let's dream on, lol.

from the graph above, it seems crysis 4870 cf scaling is still not good, even 98gtx sli can give higher fps
now, we wait for ati to fix this in their upcoming driver tongue.gif

To tech_frix, amir89, ameque, zhinsara, leh teck and all Gainward fans here,

Thanks for your vote of confidence and kind words. It's great to know we made the right decision to bring back Gainward to Malaysia. Thanks guys.

Since we are here, hope to gather some feedbacks from you all, who wants stock 4870 and who's willing to wait for custom made extreme OC 4870 (our Gainward Golden Sample brows.gif )?

Waiting time for Gainward custom made 4870, most likely early Aug. drool.gif

Just shot your requests or PM us if you need any clarifications.

Salute! notworthy.gif

architecture is a general thing to know but the clock speed for 4850 is actually lower than 3870, no?

if u want to take out ure cpu as a limiting factor u have to look at delivery
between the mem controller and gpu
and it has to be on a more steneous gaming requirement

hence clock mem more + game at higher reso.. or more aa/AF...

ic, instead of worrying too much on proc bottlenecking the gpu i should higher up the settings on memory/ram... hmm.gif

so meaning minimizing the bottleneck....sleep.gif

but still i see that many of u guys r quite happy bout the performance of 4850 compare to 3870, is it rly that good? in terms of gaming of course. smile.gif

ok, thx bro for the explanation notworthy.gif
