QUOTE(arremie @ Oct 11 2008, 09:25 PM) how do you let the amp control the crossover? Its in the amp setting?Added on October 12, 2008, 10:28 pmwhat is the name of the cable that use for sub woofer again? I think i am gonna change the position to another side of the wall and the length of it is about 7m long. Will the long cable affect the bass quality? I'm not in favor of signal cables to be longer than 3 meters. We're talking millivolts and I'm sure there's some signal degradation for 7 meters length.

QUOTE(hackwire @ Oct 12 2008, 10:26 PM) how do you let the amp control the crossover? Its in the amp setting? Yes, almost all AV receivers have this setting. This will have the subwoofer do all the low frequencies instead of the speakers (unless you have full-range/band speakers, although you can still use subwoofer for double bass production). So crossover the low frequencies that your speakers can't handle, usually around 10Hz over. THX recommends at 80Hz but it still depends on your own preference but never lower then the speakers capability. That's why it's really tricky, sometimes you have to put the subwoofer far away to get the best results. |

No problem bro. I still use the 10". For entry level, it's powerful enough for me, imagine those with the 12"!

QUOTE(hackwire @ Oct 13 2008, 11:32 AM) we are in the same Club now. Velodyne is the specialist subwoofer maker, they don't make anything else, not even speakers. Wah, now you're using Velodyne too ar? It will make you forget the trouble with the AE, and enjoy the real boom! Tun Mega, I got the KEF for center only, the fronts still MA. Can't afford the floorstanders yet. |

I would luv a 12" subwoofer anytime over 10" for a little deeper and lower bass when playing stereo music. But there's times I ask myself do I really need that?.. urrrr..nope!. The sub must integrate well with the main speakers. Its should blend in well and not to be heard on its own.
If you can hear the sub alone..its too loud. |

QUOTE(megatron007 @ Oct 13 2008, 11:34 AM) callmevil's bolster will surely smoke velo cht coz its not in the same price range.. comparing your usd499 model with cht is more appropriate although its stil not very fair coz usd499+usd230( transport) x3.4=rm2580.. and u have to pay tax or oldtown coffee voucher total up rm3k+ but u get deeper bass... if velodyne has rm3k+ subwoofers then maybe u should compare with that model..actually i also regret i bought the square svs coz its very heavy n hard to move it around unless u wanna ask your wife to help u .. that might stir up the 'y did u spend so much on hifi' issue:) |
