How weird is it ? Any Pic to show ?

My Sub lack bass especially watching astro. No budget for active sub yet, maybe in future. So I think the best way is to put it to the corner. But then, my left corner is about 4 metre from my tv. By placing there, we might just hear boom sound from left right, which will sound WEIRD overall.

haha lazyyy ok its like this, putting ur sub at corner WILL enhance the bass.. so, if ur sub lacks bass, this will be good. but.. if ur sub memang good bass, then this will be bad.. ok

lemme teach u how to find the best place to put ur sub...

1. Place ur sub where u normally sit and watch ur tv
2. play a movie or some songs with bass
3. now crawl to around ur sub's height, and crawl around the room and find the area where ur sub sounds the loudest and most punch
4. if u find 1, just move around more to see if got any other place..
5. after that, that is the place where u should place ur sub at smile.gif

ok as for me.. my sub is next to where i sit to watch my show.. its either here or i move it somewhere between the my seat and the screen... but of curz to the side.. hehe

if the sub lacks bass power, then putting it at a corner would increase the 'bass', but if ur sub can pack a punch then corners can distort the bass effect drastically.. if u see HTkaki post of his HT area before, u will realise where he put his sub is a bit weird.. but after i got my svs n did my calibrating n finding the 'sweet spot' i find my sub position oso almost similar to him..

Eh, sama gang tongue.gif

Some ppl thought i put it at the wrong place as it is blocking the floorstanders. I cldnt help but that the best position of all that I get. Putting it in front, firing straight at me is by far the worse of all placement rclxub.gif sweat.gif Corners, no no. Did the usual bass finding and that area is the best of all.

When I get my new sub, I wld have to do it all over again.

That's the reason to buy extra length for sub cable. You'll never know the best position might be the farthest away from your front speakers and amp.

Hey guys thanks for your suggestions.

I have shifted my sub near the corner and mind you, I think I have given a new life into my sub as the passive sub is able to generate more bass than before. At the meantime, I just have to live with it as budget constraints. I also add some weight to the sub so that more sloid sound can be produced.

Hi,

Actually its not (u should c de 16/46 PC units, lagi intimidating..) SvS has a very unique way of namin their subs.. a 20/39 P C Plus stands for

1. 20 - 20 hz freq resp : means its capable to go so low

2. 39 - is de height of de unit in inches : 39 inches - slightly above 3ft or approx ly 1mtr

3. P - I dont know wat tis stands for : probbly nuthin

4. C - Cylinder .... If B would be Box

5. +/Plus is their woofer/amp configuration as SvS has 3 ranges namely ISDN or I ; +/Plus is de next range n ; finally U for Ultra , their topmost range..

Hope tis clears up most confusion by lookin at their codes..

Cheers

39" in height. Massive sub and sure score low on WAF factor. Moreover, need a really huge room to place it.

Bro,

39in in ht only but footprint is only slghtly bigger then de woofer size itself which if not mistaken is ard an inch both sides out from de 12inch woofer .. so it actually takes up less floor area then a 10inch box sub..

I wanted de cylinders when I bot my pb12 but SvS didnt ship them overseas then..

Cheers

and ive made mine to go as low as 10hz btw smile.gif

i wanted to get the Ultra, but they said no cuz my room cant handle it.. then i asked for the 16-46 but they told me they're not shipping it.. so~~ i chose the 20-39.. money wasnt the issue.. it was their ethics sad.gif.. and also, they kept on pressing that for my room size, the 20-39 would fill it just nicely.. haha

took me awhile to find out that it over pressurized my room.. took awhile to adjust it... now it is just.. Da Bomb~~

i think svs got zero point on waf factor with only performance in mind when they design it .. they rather give u a big box that goes lower .. i still think hsu turbo is the ugliest sub i have seen.. looks like some robot from the 50's hehe .. performance must be extremely good for the price.. if not i dont think any1 would buy that ugly thing.. any hsu or other affordable value meal subwoofer users besides velodyne , wharfadele and svs care to share their subwoofer experience with us?

HT, is this possible?? my frens keep asking me 'is this safe for ur house?' but i dont see anything wrong wif it.. or am i wrong here??
---

ok about svs / wharffy sub review, i have the wharffy pc-8 sub, well if u just want a sub for the sake of having one, then this can do that job.. nothing special accept for the nice form factor.. good deco~

now on svs sub.. i learned it the hard way, Music Bass and Movie Bass very diff.. i syok2 listen to songs and keep increase the sub's volume till rclxm9.gif then, without knowing, i pasang Ratatouille BD.. the first 10mins of the movie bottomed out the SVS at 0db.. so shocked! so i go google.. apparently music bass u can crank up, but for movie, u mUst turn the sub's volume down by about 1/6 - 1/4 compared to the music's.. sighhhh so scared man.. i bottomed out the sub over 10x edi.. but never in cloverfield.. 1x in Golden Compass, the scene where the bear just got his armor back, and he was being surrounded by the army.. 1 scene there can bottom out the svs.. haha
