i read somewhere that the dual core gpu can only crossfire up to 2 cards only. other series u can crossfire up to 4.

maybe its only the driver issue that does not support this 4870x2 and 3870x2 in quad crossfire mode. is this true?

Because there is only one pin available at 4870x2/3870x2 for CrossFireX.

same goes to 9800GX2 cases.

DAAMIT = AMDATi
Yup,AMD already tested it with 790FX.I thought 4870 X2 is capable of doing 4 way crossfire?
Its 4 cards X2
But AMD needs stabilize its driver, because its cannot unleash the Crossfire, maybe we can say the game too..

IC, didn't now about that, i thought 4870x2 can't do 4 way crossfire, cause it have 1 slot CF connector only, where u read about this?

4870x2 it self is dual GPU.
wen u crossfire 2 of these card 2gether.........it is already consider as 4 way crossfire.

U're wrong, 4 way crossfire = 4x Graphic Card = 8 GPU, currently only amd790FX and intel x48 that support 4 slots but no driver support 4 way CF at the moment

i know wat i mean bt dis is wat people call it.

like wen u put 2 9800gx2 in 1 pc, its call quad sli.

same goes here, people will still just call it quad crossfire.

Having 2 X2's crossfire is called Quad Fire. An X2 alone has internal crossfire if not mistaken. According to ASUS .. Rampage has 2 PCIE slot and supports Quad Fire.. How can we have 4 4870s crossfire on 2 PCIEs ? Well .. it was meant 2 X2's Crossfired if im not mistaken.

other series like 4850,4870 and the 3xxx can do a 4 way cf. means that if u buy 4 of these cards u can cf all 4 of them.

but this does not apply to the 4870x2 and 3870x2 which means that u can cf up to 2 cards maximum because it has 4 gpu in it already.

is it possible that amd/ati will release a better driver in the future that can cf up to 8 gpu or a driver that can detect
internal and external cf differently.?

i know for 4870x2 crossfire, it called Quad Crossfire, but... 4-way crossfire with 4870x2 is not equal Quad Crossfire, bcoz it have 8 GPU enabled, unless u use 4870 instead for 4-way crossfire

Of course we need 4 PCIEs for 4 way crossfire, from what i read at tomhardware, there is a mobo that can support up to 4 PCIEs, refer to my previous post #575 for link

btw.. nice score... got 3dmark vantage score?
