I am asking a noob question here but please answer me T_T
After 3 years of diploma, am I going to the degree for sure? or I stand a chance being kicked out? I heard of something called credit transfer and I heard if qualify for that I can enter 2nd year of degree after diploma, can anyone tell me in detail? Thanks.

Syukri>> Thanks! I hope at 28th June can see you there =)

u can further ur degree after diploma only if u exceed certain cgpa.. i'm not really sure whats the cgpa figure.. but during my time in UTM, there were dozens of diploma students join my degree class starting from 3rd year until 4th year (final year) ... so they just studied for 2 years only for a degree.. these students are called "direct-intake students" ... most of them were directly further study after diploma and some were working for few years before further their degree...

so i had different age range of students in my class.. the eldest student was 43 years old.. got 2 kids.. and he talked about sex all the time.. and my batch (direct from SPM) was the youngest .. we were 20 years old during that time tongue.gif and we enjoyed to listen to those pakcik² talked about porno.. LOL cool.gif

u taking non-engineering course?

Intakes from Diploma will get to skip the first year, direct into 2nd year. So the duration they have to spend to finish the degree is n-1; n: actual years of study.

>3.6 (i forgot the number, utm tweaked 2 years ago) : 1st class honours
3.0 - 3.6 : 2nd class upper with honours
2.0 - 2.99: 2nd class lower with honours
0-1.99: third class

to grad, one must be of >2.0 CGPA.

:/ well the numbers might have changed la. Best to check it again.
I just do my best to stay as near to 4.0 as possible tongue.gif

:/

90-100 : A+ 4.0
80-89: A 4.0
75-79: A- 3.67
70-74: B+ 3.33
.
.
.
yg lain aku tak tau..

The pointer u get for a subject is multiplied by its credit hours. So if u get A for a 3 credit subject, u have 12 points.

GPA = (total pointers for all subjects) / (total credit hours for the semester)

CGPA = (total pointers for all subjects up to the latest semester's result) / (total credit hours up to the latest semester results)

paham?

it is the time allocated for a subject in a week. Say, if 3 credit hours, u'll have 3 hours of that subject in a week (usually the case)

for those ex-utm, what's your pointer when u graduated from UTM?

i had average 2.89.. LOL i played too much .. JB has many night clubs to enjoy tongue.gif

I graduated with less than 2.5 gpa (but still 2nd lower lah), from FKE. Fooled around too much in uni, and realised it a bit too late to get it fixed. But really, at the end of the day, those who work hard will eventually get what they want. Even though it was a rather bad fall, I managed to pick myself up, dust myself off and today after less than 3 years working I've snagged a job I like, with a salary more than double what I'd earned when I'd first graduated and more or less stable (or at least definitely heading there) life.

Yes, grades are important, but what's most important is what you actually learn, because at the end of the day that is what will save you. You can have a 3.9 GPA and snag a good job after graduation, but if that 3.9 was merely based on memorizing "target" questions and formulae (or hiring someone to do your final project), then maintaining success will definitely need much effort. And don't give up if you graduated with a low CGPA, all is definitely not lost!
