For 1 question: U can press and hold home screen button for few secs, then U can see all the background apps that running...Choose back which apps U want...walla... For web browsing, I would recommend operamini...fast, user friendly and lesser data trasnfered compare to original nokia web

For MSN, Window Live Messeger for S60v3 is a good 1...incorporate many Microsoft's programe like Messenger, Space, Hotmail and etc..

Windows Live on my E71 is free. Just has a mention that they 'may' charge in the future.

Same here. No problems. Message centre perhaps. Mines +60120000015 if that helps.

Has anyone used the encryption feature? I used it to encrypt my memory card once and it went corrupted upon a restart which forced a reformat. sad.gif

I ex-owner of Nokia N95 8GB user..Just change to the E71 recently..If you someone that use the camera a lot then i recommend to stick to N95 but if wanna try something new than E71 is the one to go..eveything is the same actually except for the camera (N95 8GB is way much better)..So, now you can choose la...for me, no regrets changing my N95 8GB to E71.

I've also used N95 (normal) before. E71 is much better when accessing internet (especially via wifi). No hangs at all. N95 used to hang often when accessing website.

Camera, definitely N95 better. But I don't really have effect on this as I don't use camera often.

Battery wise, E71 is much much better compared to N95.
- N95 I have to charge in less than 1 day if I use wifi for 1-2 hours + normal call & sms.
- E71 I used for 2 days with 2-3 hours wifi with normal sms, average high calls + with my bluetooth headset connected nod.gif

E71 is solid. No cracking noise like N95 when u press the button. N95 slider is so loose. E71 is candybar & no slider problem tongue.gif

Screen, you can't really see the difference. Maybe watching movie, N95 will be better but for normal things, E71 is good. Listening to music is also good in E71 & you will not really miss N95 in this aspect (but default earphone given is not up to the expectation)

Overall E71 is good.

Anyone use Blackberry or who really uses the functions of a PDA?
No asking for opinions of Ah Bengs who buys this phone to make calls and send sms.
I ussed to have a Blackberry and I switched to Nokia E71 and this is what I found out about E71 (can't wait for Blackberry Bold)

1. Phone hangs for about 5 seconds right after finishing a phone conversation. It doesn't allow you make another call or lock your keypad in a jiffy. Extremely annoyed with this flaw.

2. People complain that they can't get me sometimes. And I can't call out sometimes too! It says connection error!

3. You can only set 2 emails (Non POP3 emails) to do a automatic email retrieval. And you can only retrieve Header and not full email. Phone also does not allow you to do other things while retrieving email. Deleted email from server needs to deleter 2 or more times to dissapear.

4. Automatic email retrieval setting gets RESET in the middle of the day without you knowing. And you wonder why you are not receiving any emails.

5. Scroll is extremely slow for long emails.

6. Viewing emails or messages longer than a page is a bum. The screen does scroll seamlessly, it seems to scroll 3 lines in a roll and you tend to lose sight of which line you are reading.

7. There's no STOP all programs from running button. Instead you got to go to each individual program and exit them else they would be showing a dot on the program icon you did not end.

8. I transferred my contact list from my Lotus Database. Although it shows Michael Smith as a First Name, the retard software reads it as First name Michael and Middle Name Smith on the phone.

Its sad that Nokia are only getting opinions from phone users and not PDA users thus they are unable to develop a proper PDA. This is evident by the number of people saying that the E71 is a good phone in asia.cnet.com. They are mainly PHONE users who do not require PDA functions but requires a phone which resembles a PDA. rclxub.gif

Although I am not a vivid PDA user, but from the problems U listed. Not all are E71 fault and some are easily solve with 3rd party software.
Symbian OS is more toward flexibility and more simple platform compare to other.
1) The phone is not "hang". It was a pause for couple of sec. I dun think it is 5 secs long. This happen to all symbian phone i used.
2) I think this is a network coverage rather than blaming the phone. Sometime U are out of coverage or at a poor signal area. It a norm in Malaysia. Not a single telco in malaysia have 100% coverage
3, 4, 5) Not using email much...no comment
6) Ya. had to agree with U on this point. But I think not just E71 have this flaw...other BB, winmo had this problem, rite?
7) This can be solve by using 3rd party software like TaskMan, Tracker and etc.
8) Ya. Is annoying. But is just like U booking Air Ticket, train ticket, Visa and other Mat salleh form...yr name is spell like that too..For me, just need to get use to the mat salleh naming format. I take the pain and redo all my 600+ contact at Outlook with proper Last Name, First Name...now I am ok with it...

Symbian are for people who like simplicity and stable OS and a little bit more flexibility in term of 3rd party software. Winmo is bloated and resource hogging and not stable, BB is superior on it's push mail and PIM feature but lag of multimedia features.
In the end, it just about personal preferences...A phone just cant suite any1 (even for E71 case that aim toward biz class user)

2. There's no problem with the network. It's the phone. I tried switching phone and problem solved. And I didn't have this problem with my previous phone in the same location... my office desk

Looks like you have got a buggy unit. E71 has a very good reception.
