It has got to do with some setting at your phone which relates to sim as well. Most of the 3rd edition FP1 has something that you need to deactivate in GPRS setting in order to access 3G internet. It's called APN control restriction.

If you are using Maxis/hotlink, it should be 0123 if I am not mistaken. DiGi/Celcom I am not sure.

I just bought this phone today - ori set.

Everything is good. Photo quality is below average compared to other 3.15 mpixel camera phone.

I also realised that the USB port is not like the one in other Nokia devices. This one is thinner, isn't it?

Other thing is I also realised that we can't use the front camera to snap photos (other Nokia's symbian phones can do it)

Yes. AP sets are currently not in chinese version. Only ori sets comes with chinese. Will suggest you to get ori set if you are planning to buy not + if u want chinese

Ori set is selling at RM17XX

go to tools > settings > phone > network & make sure u use dual mode. If that was already active bt your hp still no 3G, then i guess you have to do hard format, no choice..

Go to tools > settings > general > personalization > home screen> mode settings > home screen apps. > enabled apps.

From there, tick search & press ok.

I am also having Avaxx set + Maxis. So far no prob. U should check your message centre number.

I've also used N95 (normal) before. E71 is much better when accessing internet (especially via wifi). No hangs at all. N95 used to hang often when accessing website.

Camera, definitely N95 better. But I don't really have effect on this as I don't use camera often.

Battery wise, E71 is much much better compared to N95.
- N95 I have to charge in less than 1 day if I use wifi for 1-2 hours + normal call & sms.
- E71 I used for 2 days with 2-3 hours wifi with normal sms, average high calls + with my bluetooth headset connected

E71 is solid. No cracking noise like N95 when u press the button. N95 slider is so loose. E71 is candybar & no slider problem

Screen, you can't really see the difference. Maybe watching movie, N95 will be better but for normal things, E71 is good. Listening to music is also good in E71 & you will not really miss N95 in this aspect (but default earphone given is not up to the expectation)

Overall E71 is good.

Looks like you have got a buggy unit. E71 has a very good reception.

Prefer to have the breathing light. Sometimes I wouldn't know whether the phone is on or not also when I used 6120c.

I have a problem with my WiFi where at some places, when I access internet, it will process & then say "connection time out" (something like that). But then I still see other people accessing easily from their laptop etc.

It only happens at some places. Why is that so? Anyone else having the prob?

My battery can last about 2-3 days with 3 hours bluetooth usage daily & 1 hour wifi usage daily + 5-6 calls & 10-15 smses daily

WRONG -never charge your battery for 8 hours. Just charge until it is full.

Try downloading some other phone's setting which is similar to your phone - e.g. E65

But before that, by right your phone will auto configure your setting. If it did not, then you have to refer to your manual on how to set it. It's quite difficult to explain it here

For those who are receiving "packet data not allowed" error, try to see whether your phone got APN setting or not?
tools->setting->general->security->phone and sim->APN

Coz mine (E71) don't have this setting but earlier symbian phone (N95) got this settling where if u don't activate unrestrict it, it will show "packet data not allowed" error

If got, then go to APN & enter 1234 (password for maxis/hotlink) to unlock/activate it.

If don't have, then I am also not sure coz mine is working fine w/o any additional setting

Err, then it should be other way round, inactivate instead of activate

Do not worry, everything is the same except for the warranty

AP sets also may not have chinese keypad. Other than that, some models may have different accessories for AP (but E71 same accessories as ori)
