Dear All,

I got quoted for RM1600, Avaxx set.

1. Is it cheap / expensive?
2. Avaxx is AP or original? I thought I had heard that only Zitron is original set now?
*
May I know where/which shop quoted the price?

Cheers,
Jackdaw

It's a shop in Klang. I'm not sure if outsiders can get so cheap. My family buy phones from them since 10 years already. Not only for family use but staff as well, so they know us quite well.

The shop name in KTS.

Oh I see. I was Google-ing about it and found out that if Zitron distribute a model, Avaxx wont and vice versa.
At the same time, I'm reading so many of those who posted are using Zitrons... so how exactly did Avaxx come into the picture?
Despite Avaxx being original, I'm still curious to know.

I will probably buy the E71 tomorrow... changing from N82. Cant say upgrade because N82 is awesome too. Yes, the price now is about RM1600 - RM1650 so I dont think my price is much better than what you guys can source in the market.

Not only that, we still have sapura set for the E71 too. I guess this will encourage a competitive price for original sets in the market.

3)This function is available, I saw it on some video phone review by boy genius or sumthing, cant really remember, u can just type in some letters and the matching contact will show, don have to enter the contacts menu

It is only available to firmware from other regions, but sadly is not available in our local firmware.

Not sure if an upgrade will solve this shortcoming.

Probably battery would drain out faster.. White LED normally consumed highest current..

actually, i try using Opera Mini on my E71, but everytime it uses EDGE to connect even though I have scanned Wifi connection and already connected. I can only use WLAN when after scanned for wireless I straight enter with Nokia browser. Honestly, I think Nokia browser is an equally good browser cos so far no problems. Opera Mini is just another browser of similar standard but more widely promoted.

I've just tried the Opera Mini on my E71. Honestly, it's not as good as the native browser on the E71. Opera does not play flash. The only positive side is, the loading is much faster than the native browser..
Anybody tried Skyfire browser? Seems to be good from user's review but the problem is only possible for download in US.. sad.gif

Opera mini is a good browser for basic web surfing. I like to use it especially when I am viewing a super long webpage (usually applicable for LYN when I am reading a thread) It has keys to jump up & down faster which default nokia browser does not have.

Another thing is whenever I am replying to someone using the fast reply below, the Nokia browser sometimes will have problem where it just doesn't process after I press "add reply". So when I refresh my browser, whatever I typed will be erased. It is a little annoying (I know that the contents can be copied before I refresh, but then it is annoying too). I do not have those problems with Opera mini. It is a good browser.

But then when it comes to playing youtube or flash movies etc, Nokia browser is 100% better than Opera Mini

Ya, i thought it wasn't as good as the browser in E71 as well. But loading is pretty fast on the native browser for me. only few seconds normally. I think both are similar speeds in terms of loading as most likely it is affected by the web connection rite?

I had tried UCWeb, Operamini, Nokia Browser and Skyfire

UCWeb: A lot of add-on ( got own media player), UI a bit bloated, speed also slower (a bit) compare to Operamini.

Operamini: Very user friendly, fast among the 4 mentioned. UI is clean and nice. Can use Myopera to manage feed and bookmard. My choice of mobile browser

Nokia Browser: normal speed, UI is ok. I like their multiple history page back.

Skyfire: Slowest UI, can stand of it.. page also loaded by view area. Like U scroll down to a new area, it will get blur first..then start to load the page...need few secs of waiting...very annoying.

thanks for the comparison.. smile.gif
I found out that the OperaMini have some bug on the E71. Whenever pressing the "." button, it will show as a rectangle box on the OperaMini. Anybody have this experience?

My E71 behaved weird again today..I turned on the camera and a message came out saying 'another application is using the camera" and I can't use the camera. Had to turn it off using the red power button and restart the phone to use the camera. Went to the Nokia centre again and the tech guy checked my phone memory. Said its free memory was low .. down to 10 MB from the 120 MB built in RAM..filled with downloaded GPS maps, pics, etc. Sort of told me that if it behaved funny check the phone's free memory. He transferred the offending files to my memory card (except contacts which cannot be moved) and freed the memory. Hopefully the phone won't behave "weird" again. Can check Ram usage by going to settings > option > memory details to see how much free memory your phone has. Mine is using 13 MB at the moment with 110 MB free. Hopefully it remains OK.
