I think prices are quite standard now everywhere. The average price I read in this thread is between 1350 to 1450. Just go to your preferred shop and ask them. It's easier if you need help next time.

Sorry about this nub questions but what's the difference between Original and AP set?

I never had a chance buying a phone in malaysia before.. please enlighten me!!

For me, mobile phone price above RM1000, i will prefer get original set.
At least the after sales service provided by nokia official is reliable.
I got my Nokia E71 original for RM1700. May be can get cheaper in some shop.
Sometime, i feel pay more a bit is worth to get proper original full set.
Anyway, i not always change new phone. nod.gif

AP set will not be warranty by nokia official but sometime also can get good service, all depend on the seller how much can be trusted.

Is ur choice to pay more or less, the more u pay,the better service you get. nod.gif

I beg to differ, coz even Zitron or Avaxx has vast records of bad service levels. Surprisingly, AP companies like First Choice and Comsat seems to provide much better aftersales services and expertise.. thumbup.gif

I found out from a friend that AP (=Approved Product) sets can be made or assembled in different countries (please correct me if I am wrong) and, depending on your luck, you may get one with or without bugs in it. Apparently, according to my friend, the serial number contains a code which gives you a indication of the country of origin (is it true?). They're cheaper of course. If Lady Luck smiles on you your AP set may never give you any problems. I had a Nokia 8250 (AP set). Passed it down to my wife who is using it at the moment. No problems with it.

haha. as for me, i buy ori set coz i feel confident with it of coz. and much more important thing is coz i live in kelantan and study in uniten bangi. so, if i buy it at kl and the phone suddenly breaks down when im in kelantan, i can just go to kelantan nokia service centre to repair it.

Anyone know how to view the phone number in contacts without having to go into each individual contact? Like old Nokia phone, when I list down the contacts, I should be able to see the names and phone number. in E71, hmmm......

There's this pinned thread here in LYN that describes the difference between Ori and AP sets.

But I'd agree with what beanbeanchong mentioned, that phones > RM1,000, I'd get an Ori set. I won't take my chances by getting a "Lemon" set.

i think its programmed that way, cos if its like the old nokia, there will not be so many fields for u to key in as much phone numbers. this phone is meant for you to be able to met in biz contact, hse contact, e-mail and etc. so i suppose the conventional nokia phonebook can't serve this purpose well.

anyway, I have a question here, i just realized that the back light at my scroll pad will blink for few seconds and then slowly fade out. this is repeated like once every 30 seconds. didn't really notice it until last night when in the dark its so visible. funny thing but it helps in finding your phone in complete darkness. an impressive invention.

It didn't work sad.gif I used NSS, Singapore code and NSU. Result: "no updates available". Firmware version is up to date but it's still the taiwan version with pinyin input as alternate sad.gif

Am I doing something wrong?

Mine blinks every 10 seconds or so, and when there's new notification, it blinks every alternate second.

If the singapore version of E71 firmware is equally latest to taiwan version, it will give the option to re-update your firmware. If it doesn't give that option, it means the taiwan one is newer than the singapore one.

I suggest to look for APAC code & not singapore one. Or worst case scenario, you need to wait for future release or go back to the service centre of your phone (usually will be free to update to chinese version)

NSS = Nemesis Service Suite (a software which is used to change product code & flash phone) nod.gif

i have to say the light is cool, but i normally don't leave any messages unread and will check all notifications, so mine normally just blink at a slow pace.

Still checking out for any new thing with the phone besides the blinking light.

Yeah it depends. A total peace of mind is 100% original set from official distributors.

I bought my AP set SE K750i and it never gave me any problems at all, the AP set is original from Vodafone UK(The package including the box has same IMEI number). Yeah touch wood for 3 years till now, it's still running fine. smile.gif

So, If you going to buy an AP set just make sure it's an approved original AP set and not some underwater set that has been tampered and such.

----

Anyway back to the E71 topic, where can I get the best deal for original set ?

Thanks.
