Just got my E71 gray steel yesterday and happy to hold it in hand.

Mine blinks only where there's a new notification.. other than that it does not blink..

U have to enable breathing light.

yea, just enable it. anyway, looking for a freeware where i can change the home screen layout. Anyone got any recommendations? I found some but its normally shareware.

is there anybody know where/how to set email authentication? i can't found it on e71. my office email using authentication. without it i can't send an email.

Flip-open Nokia E71 case

I dun think there is new update firmware for E71 currently.
Recently i read one forum mention there is new update coming soon.
I din see any news about asia pacific yet.
May be someone know about it i not sure lo.

I found the product code is singapore product from E71 blog site.
May be malaysia use singpore set as the language needed is same.
Or may be easy for nokia to just make same kind of set for both country.

How do you wanna change your home screen layout?

Hi, I just bought an e71, got 2 questions:-

1)How come the phone is installing something everytime i switch it off and on again?Once it starts, the installing thing comes out then goes off after its complete.

2)Sometimes the memory card cannot be accessed after connecting it to my pc using usb cable, anyone face the same problem?have to restart phone only can use the memory card again.

3)How to enable the contact search function on the home screen?I want it to automatic show the matching contacts when i key in numbers or alphabets, mine don do this...

I think there is a 3rd party software to create a better layout. forget its name but its not free, its a shareware. However, if you like the layout but just want to change the shorcut on the homescreen, u can do so:-

Menu->Tools->Setting->General->Personalisation->Home Screen->Mode Settings

Then u will see on the first selection is the mode you are in. Preset are either Business or Personal which u can fast switch with the Switch Mode button.

Go under Home Screen App->App Shortcut and u can edit Horizontal shorcut with the big icons. U can remove what u don't use and put in those u use.

The vertical menu however I can't find a way to edit it yet. the most I can do is remove them from the list.

To do this, go under Home Screen App->Enabled App and u can remove those unwanted shortcut. Mine only has 2, calender entries and wireless scanning left.

If you do not like the Home Screen to appear altogether, go here:-

Menu->Tools->Setting->General->Personalisation->Home Screen and under the first selection indicated Active, on selection, the Home Screen will be deactivated and u get a blank wallpaper on your home screen. To put it back on, just do the same again.

Added on October 30, 2008, 9:18 am1)The installation normally starts up itself to make it easy for you. First time install will take longer after that, its just routine check for installation files which is only few seconds.

2)If yours is ORI, u better go back to Zitron to get it checked, AP however, then there's nothing much u can do. I personally don have such problems but since my laptop has an SD card slot, I use the SD adaptor to slot in the memory card to my laptop. Easier and no hassle.

3)There is a dedicated phonebook button just to the right of your scrollpad. Once u press the button u can put in an alphabet and the list will be narrowed down. But first u have to get into the Phonebook first. If you are asking about simply putting in an alphabet and hope the list appear on the homescreen automatically, I don think that is available. Otherwise there is no need for the dedicated phonebook button.

3)This function is available, I saw it on some video phone review by boy genius or sumthing, cant really remember, u can just type in some letters and the matching contact will show, don have to enter the contacts menu

Hi all E71 owners. Pardon me but I'm very noob when it comes to latest technology in handphones. Please help me.

I'm interested in the GPS functionality in E71. What software do you guys use? I heard Nokia maps is a subscription service and certain function is limited. Is there a free service we can use on E71 ? Is the free voice navigation ? Having a small screen, I think its important to have voice navigation so I won't be looking at the small screen all the time.

You should search for Garmin Mobile XT and download the map and malsings and regarding the sw.unl (ahem) I've had no idea.........

yeah.. i too would like to be able to customize the home screen to my liking.. What I would love to have is to have the Home Screen available in Business and Home Screen to be disable in Personal.. but it seems not possible.. it's either have on both or totally disable on both..

anybody experience any lag with their e71? mine lags for about 1-3 seconds everytime i access the menu and folders. is that normal?

yes, that's normal matt_1712, dun worry over it. it happens often but not everytime larr.

i think, it is accessing the memory card/or completing some background services. once that's achieved, the lag is gone.
