Muchi,
by your last post @ V4: My PS3 is hooked to a CRT TV with normal composite cable, would that cause problem when I try to view the Blu-Ray movie? I am pretty sure that it is due to the HDCP issue. Composite is not HDCP compliant and thus unable to play the disc? Maybe if you have a monitor with DVI (HDCP compliant) you can try it out using the HDMI->DVI cable? I do have the issue before (but not with ps3), as I was trying to playback BD which i mistakenly connected it to VGA out of the lappy to LCD TV's VGA. Hulk Blu-ray to House 70 Minutes of Cut Footage
Universal Studios During an interview with director Louis Leterrier, he mentioned that the upcoming Blu-ray release of 'The Incredible Hulk', which is set to be released this Friday, will contain 70 minutes of cut footage. Apparently, during the editing process, some much-loved scenes got cut (including one which is in the trailer, but won't be in the final cut of the film), and the Blu-ray will showcase them all. "There's some great stuff and there's some really horrible stuff, but you'll see it all," commented Leterrier. Regardless, Blu-ray fans will get to see a side of the film that (apparently) those who buy the DVD won't. Those close to the situation have speculated a falling-out between Leterrier and the film's star Edward Norton over the cutting of certain scenes. Blu-ray Movies Concert Hot Spot has revealed that they have inked a deal with Summit Home Entertainment to distribute their music titles on Blu-ray. Previously, Concert Hot Spot distributed such music titles from Montley Crue and Ozzfest through Warner Home Video. Interestingly enough, Summit Entertainment is run by Steve Nickerson, formerly of Warner Home Video. Steve Devick, Concert Hot Spot CEO, commented, "Steve Nickerson has assembled an extremely high quality team of sales and marketing professionals who will help tremendously in bringing our Blu-ray music related releases to the marketplace." Paramount Launches Blu-ray Support Site
Paramount Paramount Home Entertainment has launched a support website for their Blu-ray disc releases. Similar to what they had for their HD DVD releases, the site talks about what Blu-ray is, current and upcoming releases from the studio, and general tech support for existing Paramount Blu-ray releases. The site is a little barren right now, with many features saying "Coming Soon", but we expect Paramount to soon populate this page and make it their primary source to connecting with Blu-ray fans. My Sweeney Todd steelbook already arrived yesterday. Amazon UK's standard shipping rocks, for RM24 standard shipping (Royal Mail) I received my BD in only 6 days (including weekends).
 But yeah, UK is closer than US. |

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has revealed via their retailer site that they will be bring 'Kill Bill Part 1' and 'Kill Bill Part 2' to Blu-ray on September 9th. Its way too early to talk about specs or special features - we'll have to wait for the press release for that - but the fact that these highly anticipated films are finally coming to Blu-ray should make many fans smile. Lets hope Disney will give us the full Kill Bill blood fest treatment, apparently the initial releases in DVD had the famous "showdown at the house of blue leaves" in black & white to slip through the R censorship rating. I think Spyder2 cant do calibration on pj, right? You need the other model of Spyder to do that. Correct me if I am wrong.

Just wait a while, they will re-release those titles, including MI:3 with lossless audio. Just look at all release by Paramount and Warners now, all got lossless audio. In July they are releasing Top Gun with DTS-HD MA, the first time ever from Paramount. |

Looking at the Denon player, I really think that this thread shouldn't be in Playstation section. We need to move to Audiophile. Blu-ray software/players isn't necessarily PS3. PS3 is just one of the players only. |

I disagree. Nothing to do with standalones. PS3 is just one of the many devices to play BD. The general main forum should be BD, then inside we can have thread for different players, not the other way around.
My suggestion is, we can have Audiophiles > Blu-ray as the main forum, then inside we can have threads for movies, concerts, players (even PS3 too, BD settings in PS3, etc), display, audio, etc, all related to high-def (even HD 720p files). Then those real audiophile junkie will start considering standalones. It will be more comfortable to discuss receivers, speakers, projectors, etc. I just feel weird to go back and forth between here and the Audiophiles section to discuss something very closely related. This is the only thread that I read here. I hope in the future I can only come here to find out things about PS3 as a game console. Watched Juno, very colorful. I calibrated my TV using both DVE HD Basics and the THX calibration tool on DVD, both are asking me to put higher for colour (using the color filter). But I have to lower it down, too strong, especially while watching this Juno (and also Bridge to Terabithia, Crank). I think I have to maintain the current color setting, more natural now.

A bit pening with GTA4 coz the control is totally different from GTA SA (PS2) and most probably due to my 92" screen I must say that it looks darn good |

I got from AVS..current my setup it is not like this : If you are using a 5.1 speaker setup with a 7.1 channel receiver then you need to tell the receiver that you have no "rear" speakers. The surrounds you have should be identified as "side" speakers even if they are physically set up to the rear of your seating position. They should be wired to the side surround speaker outputs of your receiver. Meanwhile, tell the PS3 to send no more than 5.1 channels to the receiver (uncheck the 7.1 audio choices in the audio output settings). If you play a 7.1 track, the PS3 will then take care of mixing any "rear" surround content into the "side" surround content it is sending to the receiver during its decoding of the 7.1 track for you. |

I would love to have a Region Free PS3 but no one is selling it out there and no heck available as yet....which shop's guy told you that?
fyi, PS3 games are all region FREE. Bluray movie are separated into region A, B & C. We are in Region A, same region as US, Japan. |

Of course can muat, but with lower bitrate. Meaning some details could lost. It's like DVD5 and DVD9, you can see the difference.
In this current stage, I think the BDA should make it compulsory now, at least for 2 hour movies to use 50GB. If possible, the extra features are moved to disc 2 except for audio/PiP commentary. This post has been edited by aiman04: Jun 23 2008, 08:50 AM |
