QUOTE(Amras of Nargothrond @ Jun 7 2011, 12:21 AM) I am planning to get this 320GB/500GB Scorpio Blue 8MB WD3200/WD5000BPVT Sata 3GB for my PS3 upgrade. That's a good HDD to use for ur PS3 but if can get seagate momentus better because i use that Any latest comment on this HDD? Still facing a lot of PS3 crashing problem? Please help to advice... Planning to get it this week. QUOTE(RooDee8845 @ Jun 21 2011, 05:26 PM) guys, i upgraded my ps3 from stock 160GB to 500GB since PSN back online. using Seagate Momentus 500GB SATA 5400rpm 2.5". bought from this LYN forum sounds like hard disk issue. err.. if you still keep the backup data, reformat the hard disk (don't quickformat) and restore it again?I played LA Noire for 3 hours and swith off my PS3. the next day, i turn it ON again but same thing happened. the HDD led is lit on for 5 minutes and then gone, but, it never get to XMB screen. it is like the CPU can't read the HDD. Is anyone facing this problem??? QUOTE(dausmat @ Jun 21 2011, 08:18 PM) stick to 5400rpm as that is the spec used by sony on their stock HDDThis post has been edited by TheUndead: Jun 28 2011, 09:26 AM |

Uh I went and did something dumb. Didn't back up my data and I went and plugged my PS3 HDD into my PC. Was going to try to clone my 120 GB to my new 500 GB, and hey it should've been a straightforward thing, 2 SATA drives what could go wrong?
Turns out it's encrypted, and Windows helpfully overwrote the MBR. Am I pretty screwed? Any way to recover the PS3 HDD without losing my save data? |

Hi. Anyone facing this problem? Posting here as the other thread got minimal replies.
Cannot Start. The Correct Hard Disk Was Not Found When it Occured : Was playing Dragon Age II when the game hang, and I did a reset. After reset, the error message came out yesterday around 1 am. What has done so far : I've looked at a few websites, and all ask to do soft reset and enter Bios. However, following the instructions, I can't even get into the Bios, and the error message keeps appearing. PS3 Specs : 1. PS3 Slim - Latest Firmware (3.66 I think) 2. 500 HDD Seagate Momentus XT hybrid drive (bought about 6 months ago) - 60% filled. Other Notes : A few games hang on my PS3 happened before (Dragon Age II, Assassin's Creed (both II & Brotherhood), normally around 1-2 times after about 50+ hours of play). Anyone who experience this, appreciate to share what you did. I have tons of saves and if I had to reformat the drive, would like to recover them first.Als Also, I've placed back my original 120 GB HDD and they ask to update to firmware 3.66 - Problem is, when I put in the USB drive (FAT32 format), it keeps saying could not find 3.66 firmware. Do any of you guys face this issue when updating via USB drive to 3.66? The 3.66 firmware on the site is the same size as 3.65 firmware but can't be coincidentally same right? Going to have PS3 withdrawal symptons soon |
