Is it this screen that u were having?



Usual instructions:
1. Download the latest Firmware form the playstation website
2. Create the following folder structure on a (FAT32 formatted) USB stick:
- PS3\UPDATE
3. Copy the Firmware file (PS3UPDAT.PUP) into the UPDATE folder
4. Insert the USB stick into the PS3 and follow the on screen instructions (Press the START and SELECT at the same time)

since ps3 cant detect update file... redownload firmware again...and also try another usb stick

try plugging the ps3 controller to the usb cable... i read somewhere abt it

I recently updated my 40GB PS3 to an 80GB hard drive. I had a similar problem in that the screen would stay connect a usb cable to the controller and press the PS button. I did that and the controller would just flash so I resetted the controller. A message popped up saying that "the system can't be restarted so the hard drive must be reformatted", so I downloaded the latest update to my flash drive and made a folder and put the update in it. I restarted the PS3by pressing start and select and plugged the flash drive in and it reformatted the hard drive and updated the firmware update.

one more thing... folders name n files must be capitalised...

if usb failed, try the same thing, with folders n file update... burn it on cd-r... nero preferrably

so what brand did u get? some 500gb hdd can't fit

i remembered the rule of 9.5mm Height for hdd

great to hear that... mine havent upgrade hdd yet... thinking of upgrade to either 320GB or 500GB...

to pippolan... any laptop hdd... sata support... WD, seagate or samsung... check earlier thread... someone post here be4 for hdd seller

bigger hdd = more contents

if u decide to take the existing ps3 hdd and put it into another ps3, it will asked for reformat.

highly recommended if get the 500gb 2.5in sata hdd.... priced under rm200 (WD or seagate)

its not a must.... 5400 or 7200 rpm also can... there's price difference tho

5400 is good enuf for me

all ps3 hdds are rated at 5400rpm anyway...

backup utility @ XMB to external hdd, when upgrading to new hdd

it works for all ps3 models...

its ok... just keep lookout on 1tb hdd (9mm thickness)

why no backup?

again... a costly decision.... since ps3 data on the hdd is using sony proprietary format (hence its encrypted for each system)

pretty much screwed you gonna lose all that data

i'm sure the ps3 would ask for hdd reformat

yep can.... as long as it fits into ps3 hdd compartment 9.5mm thickness
