o O..  cant copy the back up file to the usb HDD.. now the back up file still in my PC.. so the previous game that bought from the sharing account just gone like this?

cause i found the backup file need space 28GB, so i backup into HDD(this is the new 500GB that later need to put into PS3) then store into PC and transfer back to the HDD(this is the 80GB of the original PS3 HDD)

you should be able to, you need to format is as fat32 copy the folder over as it is mean copy the whole folder that was created by ps3 backup utilities not the files inside, then restore because i did the same thing too no problem smile.gif

The reason of doing backup is not have to redownload all the games back from psn smile.gif I have 40gb of games redownloading would be a pain,by restoring from backup I just need to reactive them without the need to redownload all the games again

Yea ~ Finally upgraded my PS3 HDD, now can hold more Digital games + Games Installation rclxm9.gif

Thanks The Undead bro for intro me to that dealers (thanks him as well).

For those Copy Prohibited game save data, no need worry as long as you backup and restore on the SAME PS3, there won't be affect.

What i found one thing after restore is that there is some theme (free one i guess) become corrupted and some default Avatar of my account also missing image, dunno what happen hmm.gif

However, all things works fine. If you have those PSN games which bought from bro terion, just tell him which games and he will provide you all the details . I bought quite a number from him and he just listed out to me very fast thumbup.gif thumbup.gif
Then you can either activate through Account Management there or simply go to PS Store > View Downloads > Choose the game > Wait for the "Activating, please wait" gone > Cancel the download.
Next thing when you launch the game, it is ready to play.

TS maybe can add the COPY PROHIBITED info on first page smile.gif

No, you can't do that way shortcut. I recommend to download the PS3 3.61 firmware update into your PC first.

Minimum is:
(1) The new HDD (#1)
(2) Existing PS3 HDD (#2)
(3) A PC/Laptop with sufficient disk space (#3)

° Format #1 with Fat32 (1st post / google search)
° Plug #1 as USB into PS3, and run System Settings -> Backup Utility -> Backup (this backup may take 30min to several hours, depending on your size)
° Unplug #1 from PS3, plug into PC and copy all (including hidden files/folders, if any)
° Swap physical HDD into PS3
° Format #2 as Fat32, and copy back all files from PC -> #2 (to act as USB now)
° If you downloaded the firmware, you can copy to the proper folder also.
° Boot up PS3 (with #1) and follow instruction. It will take some time. If you have the firmware in HDD, you can save a lot of time from downloading 100MB+
° Once booted up, System Settings -> Backup Utility -> Restore

If it is the SAME PS3, all contents should be 99% there.

I have a spare USB HDD (#4), so I can skip the copy part icon_rolleyes.gif

Forgot to tell you some steps (which is mentioned in 1st page there also)

° Before start backup, remember to sync trophies (need online) for all the accounts in the PS3
° After restore, sync again for all accounts.

guys, i upgraded my ps3 from stock 160GB to 500GB since PSN back online. using Seagate Momentus 500GB SATA 5400rpm 2.5". bought from this LYN forum smile.gif the thing is, this previous 2~3days my PS3 become unstable. when i switched ON the power, it never get to XMB screen. the HDD led lit about 5~10minutes n then gone. try to switch OFF the power button but nothing happen. so, i OFF main supply. it happenned for 2~3 times n finally it can get to XMB screen. but i noticed, the XMB animation is a bit lagging.

I played LA Noire for 3 hours and swith off my PS3. the next day, i turn it ON again but same thing happened. the HDD led is lit on for 5 minutes and then gone, but, it never get to XMB screen. it is like the CPU can't read the HDD. Is anyone facing this problem???
