I wonder why does HTC give a misleading standby time when the device can barely last a day. I think it is too early to look for one now as the device is new. Better to go for a higher capacity battery rather than to get a similar capacity one which will give you the same results.

Has anyone tried to lower down the brightness to the absolute minimum and un-check the 'auto-adjust' backlight feature in the backlight settings and see how far this takes you? Other setting is to set the device to turn-off after 1 minute of inactivity. It may not contribute much but worth trying though.

actually....my other pdas i used, in my PDA history, all lasts around 10 - 12 hours. My Touch Diamond lasts about 9-10 hours. Their standby time i not switching your pda on.

Btw: look at this thread, u can now make your pda "Talk" hahaha. U can do it yourself or download my package.

Just to side-track a bit, the Rom that I'm using from Laurentius26 in Xda, which is a diamond port to my Tilt together with the power feature is giving me an average standby time of 4 days which I feel is awesome. The least is 2 days with heavy usage.

But then again the battery of the Tilt is 1350mAH vs 900mAH for Diamond.

wat is your "heavy usage" and what is your "stand by". anyway, yea, its definitely bigger battery than diamond. I'm not saying its better than tilt. Diamond's touch flo has bugs, memory leaks, perhaps even power consumption. Perhaps a rom will fix it. Plus you're comparing cooked rom against HTC's rom, which we all know sucks, what more with it being new. Tilt has greater battery, yes, lasts longer, yes. Thats a fact noone is arguing. What we're saying its not as bad as we though. Again, comparing our USAGE with our own, when i use Tilt (clean rom), i last 10-12 hours for MY usage. For my diamond i last 9 hours.

Yup, totally I totally agree with you on the usage part. Perhaps my usage and other people's usage is not the same and hence contributed to different and varying results. And you're spot-on when you say the cooked Roms are definitely better than the standard fare HTC is dishing out to its buyers. Thank God we have great cooks over at you know where. smile.gif

And yeah, I'm still sitting on the fence on this one.

Thanks man! I finally get it works! it is better compare to mapking.

I will install this garmin for my cruise as well sinceit is better than mapking to me.

My GPS history:

Garmin nuvi660 -> HTC Cruise w/Mapking R12 -> HTC Diamond w/Mapking 2007 -> and now finally HTC Diamond w/Garmin Mobile XT.

My TC last time could at least gave me 18-24 hours with heavy texting...some video and few calls. Extra capacity battery would result a bigger TD right? I just have to stick extra normal battery then.

extra battery capacity definitely result extra in battery size. i am not too sure people will like a thicker diamond. i think just standby one more battery and in car charger will do..

for your info, when talking about standby time.. which they measure as you on your phone without sim card (no gsm signal).. i think so far still not a very big issue for me as i did not use bluetooth headset and gps yet.
