Bro, as far as i know for the 1st batch of TD the screen colors is better than the following batch. Is all bcoz their QC not tight enough due to good respone over the world...

I did compared mine TD with the latest batch of TD last Sunday at PDA Xpert, n the screen colors mine is clearer le n better!

lol, i cant really tell which is mine, but as far as i can see, mine "very first batch" is okay. also, it may be possible that your screen protector plays a part as well. like if screen protector in the sun after a while sure become slightly yellowish

too bad, as earlier mention, thirdparty battery GPS wont work due there is hidden circuit in the battery which will only triggel the GPS.

actually the GPS is working, but can only get a max of two sattelites with good connection, not enuf for navigation

teddytales, i suspect the reporting service (since i never use before) reads off from the contacts in your simcard. maybe thats why the number isnt registered. why dont u use the normal inbuilt in the pda notification? it will pop up and just say "sms has been sent"?

again, if u want a review on the rom differences and updates, please view post 2 in this thread. also, yes, its normal that DIamond gets hot when in use. blame the material used as the casing

I was wondering about reports too. Was using Nokia all the while and this is my 1st PDA phone. Now i feel quite awkward without the reports. Anyway the thing is, I don't even see the "sms has been sent" pop up like u said. Is there any option i should activate?

You mean there's a GPS antenna within the battery module packaging? hmm.gif Or is it because the thicker battery now interferes with the antenna sensitivity? We need to establish the location of this antenna otherwise its hard to tell.

Mine should be the earlier batch and the whites are incredibly white for a PDA display. The blacks are so good too. At first I thought they are using LED backlit displays hahaha! But anyway this new 'panel' characteristic shouldn't deter new buyers because it only affects the viewing angle. As long as face to face it is good, then it shouldn't pose any problem. But it does mean HTC has more than one supplier of LCD now.

Anyway....

Bro... an overly good response does not mean their QC have to be loosen. Good or not, a manufacturer can only produce a finite number of units at a specific time. They have to rely on their subcontractors too.
Moreover, HTC does not produce these LCD panels. I do not think that with the pressure of such good market demand they would just sign a 'waiver' for those rejected units so that they could cope with the demand.

A more rational viewpoint would be its subcontractors cannot cope with the production output requirements of HTC because of the good market response. As such it is always a plan for any manufacturer to have a second source of component supply. This is where HTC could be ordering LCD panels from a different subcontractor. That could explain why there are two differing viewing angles of these LCDs.

Just like how Samsung did with its monitors but of course for a different reason - costs. The same thing also happen on Nokia particularly the N95. My earlier unit was warm in color temperature while my friend who bought one recently is slightly on a cooler tone which looks bluer/whiter. At first I thought mine has been used extensively that the LCD color now deteriorates, that until we saw the 3rd unit which looks different that the original two. rclxub.gif

I believe it's not about first batch or second batch but where HTC source their lcd from. Some say they take from different manufactures just like Samsung does for their LCD monitor. Anyway, the one with the superior color was bought later, in fact a couple of days ago. It came with a newer ROM (1.93) whereas the unit with the yellowish screen came with the 1.37 ROM. It's not the LCD protector as I have taken off from both just to make sure. By the way Baronic, how's your GPS performance with the 3rd party batt?

Yeah, mine too. Forward function is greyed out in all sms views.

Yes you are right, in the sms thread you need to drag and highlight the sender name and their message until it turns blue, then only the forward option will be available.

because the sms in windows mobile 6.1 is in threaded mode, you can get a little program from xda-developer to switch it to normal mode and you can forward sms as normal wink.gif

or you can edit the registry
1.navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\OEM\SMSInboxThreadingDisabled
2.you need to create OEM key in Settings and create a DWORD SMSInboxThreadingDisabled and set it to 1
3.softreset

3G all the way..( the 3G icon/ "H" icons appears) when i was uploading and downloading). The exact settings on TYTN II using the same sim card have no such problem...

then i think is maxis network problem, for standard 3G connection, it should be able to receive/make call during data connection.

Hey guys, compared to samsung omnia, which one is a worthy buy? I know that most of you got diamond already, but I asked this in the omnia thread and as predicted they said omnia better. Omnia does have better camera in terms of megapixels, but what about the touch screen? I'm kinda in a dilemma here, pricing almost the same...

Pros for omnia=higher capacity batter, camera more pixels, 8GB internal memory+external slot...

Pros for diamond= design?

I hope I don't offend any diamond users here, I just want to know which is more worth it as they both seem to be very similar. I woudl like your opinions. Thanks.

other than VGA screen in Diamond, Omnia win Diamond in term of spec.
but Omnia using own propriety connecter rather than mini usb

overall still Omnia win in spec nod.gif
