gold oso quite pricey dy.....haha but u recommend buying physical gold or those paper gold?
cash will prolly get devalued too rite if trade war worsens?
bonds hrmm i nv read much abt those..

Best place to be in a recession is Govt Bonds as Central Banks will cut rates. But as rates are already low, they will have to go to 0 or negative in some countries, n will also start QE.. Great for gold. For Gold I like Goldetf.

On the other hand, Xi and Trump could also be BFF again by end of this month. Many central banks have loose monetary policy now. And these could have postponed recession. Good for banks then.

Or maybe it's all just false hope?

If we expecting a recession soon, do we still buy Maybank now?

When recession come, isn't bank the first one to dive?

You buy nothing if you have crystal ball to know recession is coming for sure.
Recession - business slow - NPL rise - Bank less profit or loss.

You buy high quality bond if you know recession is coming, as this is where money can be made during recession.

At current situation, we have slowdown, not recession.
There is a big different with slowdown growth vs recession.

The thing is u don't know the future.. Could be next year, 2021, 2022...n you could miss out on a lot of good returns. That's investing for u.. Taking risk.

In the meantime, Maybank. Close up again! Nice. Rm9 coming..

Just enjoy the dividends and save up more bullets to average down if opportunity arises.
I bought my first tranche at 9.6x range, and has since been averaging down to 9.08. Still on paper loss now but the dividends could easily cover for that.

Loose monetary policy - low interest rate, inject more liquidity (cash) into financial system.

The risk, inflation and potential bubbling of sector (like property, stock market, bonds etc).

Normally it is not advisable using "time the market" strategy to invest in stock market especially for good stocks, like predict when the stock is bottom or top, or when recession is going to hit.

Those prediction is harder than predict 4D number, unless one has crystal ball to see it. biggrin.gif
Boom and burst is always cyclical, so does stock market.

oh coz low interest rate, ppl borrow more n spend more ...
So risk, inflation and potential bubbling of sector are affected by the monetary policy adopted by the central bank?

Slightly off topic, but may i ask (for Maybank Trade app) using Maybank IB

Why does my brokerage fee differ from my relatives’s? My brokerage is 0.42% or minimum RM 28, but theirs is 0.10% or minimum RM 8.
All are normal cds cash account, no brokerage services whatsoever, no contra trading allowed.

This is Maybank shareholders group discussing about Maybank share not their service.

Anyways, I'm guessing yours is probably a non-margin collateralised account (based from my experience with Ambank).
Meaning, you have higher trading limit up to 2.5x or 3x but you need to settle payment by T+2.

Also, I have never heard of RM8 minimum. That's what Ambank offers not Maybank. Maybank minimum is RM12 for cash account unless they negotiated with the broker.

Try negotiating with your broker about this fee or just convert it to a pure cash account (I was told you need to write a letter to your bank to close your current CDS and re-open again).

I'm just guessing and you should just contact your remisier. Do update what's the real reason.

I use market timing strategy. It's not that impossible as ppl think, but requires guts n recognizing the possibility I could be wrong.

It's of course impossible to time perfectly, so usually a little bit early, occasionally a little bit late, but u don't want to be too early and definitely do not want to be the last.

how come RM 9.60 so expensive? When did you start?

actually, I've bought MBB many times. Bought and sold, bought and sold. Now I've learned my lesson. Buy and hold.

I started buying blue chip very late, my first purchase of Maybank was on May 30 2018, at 9.65 and has since been averaging down since. Bought over 4 tranches up to now at 9.45, 8.80 and 8.42 to bring the average to 9.08.
