If it drops 10% n bounce back to RM8.9+ then it makes no difference.. Or it might shoot past that to 10 or 11.

And at end of Aug they usually announce interim divvy.. Thts Sure Angpow.

DeuBank has been a sick bank for many years..
*
usually after dividend announced then d stocks become cheaper rite?
How do we know when its gonna be announced?

Or u want to wait for price like mamak sirap ais? 😆
*

QUOTE(nexona88 @ Jul 12 2019, 08:58 PM)

Any stock u buy, u have to watch out for minimum brokerage.
Rather than 100 shares a month, maybe better 600 shares every 6 months.
*
tht's a good idea..was enamoured by this notion tht a noob can start investing with like a minimum amount eg RM1000,but later i find out abt minimum brokerage =( need at least 8k to make good...

QUOTE(ryan18 @ Jul 14 2019, 10:54 PM)

Of course, dividend this year is not yet known. No guarantee that it will be 57 sen.

But past 5 years their payout has always been above 50 sen with average of 55 Sen.

If u think the US and China fight will get worse soon then don't buy any stocks, banking stocks or otherwise. Buy bonds, gold or keep cash.
*
gold oso quite pricey dy.....haha but u recommend buying physical gold or those paper gold?
cash will prolly get devalued too rite if trade war worsens?
bonds hrmm i nv read much abt those..

QUOTE(moosset @ Nov 8 2019, 05:48 AM)
but banking stocks will only be indirectly affected, no? Especially Malaysia is so far away. Even the US financial crisis, we weren't affected much right??

2nd Q: how much longer will Trump be president? I assume if he's no longer the president, the trade war will be over?
*
thats true,i think the effect will be more on developed countries.
Assuming Trump's successor wont do funny things like he did. China is rising fast

Best place to be in a recession is Govt Bonds as Central Banks will cut rates. But as rates are already low, they will have to go to 0 or negative in some countries, n will also start QE.. Great for gold. For Gold I like Goldetf.
QUOTE(Cubalagi @ Nov 8 2019, 02:40 PM)
Many central banks have loose monetary policy now. And these could have postponed recession. Good for banks then.

Or maybe it's all just false hope?
*
wad is "loose monetary policy"?

QUOTE(cherroy @ Nov 8 2019, 03:17 PM)
You buy nothing if you have crystal ball to know recession is coming for sure.
Recession - business slow - NPL rise - Bank less profit or loss.

You buy high quality bond if you know recession is coming, as this is where money can be made during recession.

At current situation, we have slowdown, not recession.
There is a big different with slowdown growth vs recession.
*
lol crystal ball =)
wads d difference?isnt d effect similar for investors?

QUOTE(Jordy @ Nov 12 2019, 11:12 AM)
Just enjoy the dividends and save up more bullets to average down if opportunity arises.
I bought my first tranche at 9.6x range, and has since been averaging down to 9.08. Still on paper loss now but the dividends could easily cover for that.
*
yeah for MBB must have lotsa bullets

QUOTE(cherroy @ Nov 12 2019, 03:02 PM)
Loose monetary policy - low interest rate, inject more liquidity (cash) into financial system.

The risk, inflation and potential bubbling of sector (like property, stock market, bonds etc).
oh coz low interest rate, ppl borrow more n spend more ...
So risk, inflation and potential bubbling of sector are affected by the monetary policy adopted by the central bank?

QUOTE(cherroy @ Nov 12 2019, 03:02 PM)
Normally it is not advisable using "time the market" strategy to invest in stock market especially for good stocks, like predict when the stock is bottom or top, or when recession is going to hit.

Those prediction is harder than predict 4D number, unless one has crystal ball to see it.  biggrin.gif
Boom and burst is always cyclical, so does stock market.
