QUOTE(Oracles99 @ Aug 10 2011, 10:57 PM) The government-linked funds have perhaps pushed up AA to faciliate the deal. They have all the details but the public does not. Most airline shares all the world over are not performing. MAS had always being suckers...U mean the government is trying to make TF richer, I think not. They are just trying the last effort to save MAS. If u can make yourself a millionaire, will you make others a millionaire also? Who is trying to save MAS from whom or what? look at these facts. one year ago: MAS was 2.10 and AIRASIA was 1.50 MAS was push down to as low as 1.35 AIRASIA was pushed up to as high as 4.20 Fundamentally there iwere not much changes in both airlines in that time frame. With this price movement TUNE AIR is able to get MAS from Khazanah at 70% cheaper. If they stop supporting AIRASIA now the price will drop to below 2.00 ( I think its fair value) and MAS will slowly move back to above 2.00 ( its fair value) If this happen who are the suckers.... When TR bought MAS at 8.50 and make it lossing money he can sell back to the govement at the same price. So it you can make it not lossing money you are now better and can sell it higher back to the goverment??? people are just scared no more cheap fares, me too.
the share swap will in a way put tony on the board of both mas and airasia. price fixing threat is real and it does not bode well for the consumers. |

QUOTE(rosdi1 @ Aug 10 2011, 05:49 PM) I just have one very simple question here: MAS warrants looks like rubbish here.which free warrant you like to have. (2.5 Years) 1. MAS-WA conversion at 2.00 current price 1.72 2. AIRASIA -WA conversion at 4.99 current price at 3.54 If you say you wamt MAS-WA than khazanah had done a bad deal for us. |

He could have cashed out and left the scene .. he had that choice .. but then again I don't understand why us Malaysians have to be so critical if a national company like MAS .. which is seen in positive light in West and other places and that represents MALAYSIA .. is given a bit of help .. I don't see anything wrong with this... On price fixing - I don't think this will happen ... no one can operate a cartel .. if that does happen it will set a dangerous precedence - next thing you will see is Maxis + celcom + digi tie up .. doubt so ! |

So, he has the larger voice to get certain "visa" to be grant by gov't which previously could not (last time no power). e.g. Airport issues. I think he will award Tan Sri title soon. Now, Tony is a gov't crony. 2) Government Indirectly, gov't still has a chance to rescue MAS. 3) Investor Investor of AA and MAS, benefit from monopoly biz and thus profitable account. Loser You and me who buy air-line tickets as monopoly of air-line market emerge. |

The only thing MAS needs is a good management team without incurring huge losses in terms of value exchange with AirAsia. MAS has been there and Jala has done it. I don't see what is wrong with the government doing it again. KUALA LUMPUR: AIRASIA BHD []’s top officials Tan Sri Anthony Francis Fernandes and Datuk Kamarudin Meranun were formally appointed as directors of MALAYSIAN AIRLINE SYSTEM BHD [].
MAS said on Thursday, Aug 11 their appointments to its board took effect on the same day. Tony Fernandes, 47, was appointed AirAsia Bhd group chief executive officer of AirAsia in 2001 and still holds the position until now. Kamarudin is AirAsia’s group deputy chief executive officer. Kamarudin, 50, was appointed a director of AirAsia on Dec 12, 2001. In January 2004, he was appointed an executive director and on Dec 8, 2005, he was re-designated to group deputy CEO. Their appointments were part of the collaboration between MAS and AirAsia. Under the corporate exercise, Tune Air will hold 20.5% of MAS and Khazanah Nasional Bhd will hold 10% of AirAsia Bhd under a share swap announced by the companies on Tuesday, Aug 9. Khazanah has also proposed to acquire 10% of AirAsia X, with the value based on the latest closing price. Datuk Mohamed Azman Yahya was appointed as a non executive director and Rashdan Mohd Yusof as alternate director AirAsia. Tengku Datuk Azmil Zahruddin had resigned as MAS managing director and would join Khazanah as director of investments effective Sept 12. An executive committee, comprising Mohamed Azman, Rashdan, Fernandes and Kamarudin will oversee the management of MAS until a new MD us appointed. MAS and AirAsia are to issue free warrants to each others’ shareholders. Independent advisers will be appointed to advise minority shareholders on the proposed warrants. |
