I remembered the spikes came with the original packing of concertino donus stands. You should find it in between the separators unless it is an opened box set.

past few days no time to listen lar....kinda tied up with work
perhaps over the weekend

Added on May 10, 2009, 9:24 pmok...here's my first report on the atacama spike shoes for my SF

the lower end bass has better extension compared to my previous cheapo spike shoes

the background has somewhat become darker, cleaner

overall i felt the sound had more dynamics, more revealing and more body

overall, i would rate this item value for money and at the rate i'm enjoying, i hv no regrets getting it at all

What is the most obvious change to sonics with these stands compared to your earlier metal ones?

most obvious changes i think it's the bass.
previously the bass was very slow and muddy. and i can't detect that as i use it with other stand also same. only when i replace the original sonus stand i realise that previous bass is muddy.
and the bass impact is very very much improved. speed is consider very fast as i am using small wattage amp to drive it.
the first impression when i swap the stand is the bass indeed very very fast.
instrumental wise. the mid is very much intergrated well with the lower bass.
previously i though that the mid is already well controlled.
and the treble / bass driver really intergrate each other well. but when i swap to original stand. the speaker makes me feels that it really perform "Full range" across it's freqnencies respond.
there's some mid that i can't even tell it's from tweeter or midbass.. it just come out completely.
when i play some flute or piano disc. from lower notes to higher notes, i can still hear the same thickness of the sound. the piano and the flute itself doesn't shrink. and it doesn't seems to have cross over problem in the middle range.
this is especially obvious with ori stand. perhaps it's due to the ori stand is made by wood / metal mixture. hence that it reduced specific requencies resounance.

treble and mid is much wider now. which on same track played . i really feel muffle in previous stand..
i am very very happy with the stand.. despite the seriously high price...
my wallet is seriously injured..

Yes, it is important that you are truly happy with them. Don't worry too much about the wallet being seriously injured coz it will recover soon. The ori stands are designed specially for the loudspeakers and the latter have been voiced with the stands in equation; they are actually part of one another. I feel we should not stinge if we are serious in maximizing the sonics possible from our SF loudspeakers.

Thank you for your detailed comments on sound. Enjoy. smile.gif

ido agree that it's part of each other..
before that. i was trying to upgrade amp.. upgrade preamp.. upgrade source... to maximise the speaker performance.
but in the end. it's still deviated as the stand itself doesn't make the speaker behave like it shall be.
so what ever i do including changing bigger power amp. trying tube amp. doesn't make me get good results. as the sound is very much coloured by the normal empire stand. so it's sort of bring heavy characteristic over the speaker..
now with ori stand. i really can differenciate some different over source, recording and i swap cable also i can clearly identify the characteristic..
consider a good invest.

Wow, what a beautiful, astonishing original speaker stand ! Congratulation to you, PcWork. I wish i would get this one day. drool.gif

Trust me, one day if you move to a special/dedicated listening room with room acoustic, i.e. diffusor, bass trap and absorption panel on wall, carpet or rug on floor, you will hear a better soundstage.

After having my room acousticly treated, i really enjoy the soundstage deliver by SFCD speakers, just wonder if i am having the original speaker stand, how would the soundstage be? Haha.

Now my next target is to get a external DAC, i.e. Cambridge Audio DacMagic.

Well, you can listen again to all your CD collection one by one , enjoy the music.

Cheers
