Thanks for the guide guys~ Hand paint is seriously hard as its very sticky
*
i went bad the last time i painted a clear part with clear blue doh.gif
can see 3 layers uneven surface doh.gif as u said. "sticky" that time the room is air cond doh.gif paint dry too fast for me to make a even surface
need buy modelling thinner then clear blue.. i tried using lot's of thinner n less clear blue for hand painting. like 1 drop of clear blue : 3 drops of thinner sweat.gif i use a large fine flat brush, take a dip & paint 1 time through. wait it to dry then add another layer. i sweat alot during the process as i cant open any fans sweat.gif fans make dust stick to paint doh.gif

btw i planning to install a exhaust fan near my window to suck out air. maybe that will make my room cooler..

Problem is my clear blue from Mr.Color when mixed with Tamiya thinner, it will turn hard and stick to the brush rather mixing with the thinner.

Your Mr.color is laquer paint type right?
Maybe you're using the wrong thinner type...
Take a few photos of them and show it to us and it might help us..

im planning to make the MG red frame to gold frame. i saw a guy at youtube painting his PG red frame using russian gold colour something. he said doesnt even need primer, he said the paint is quite durable then he added a clear yellow to it. but i guess he uses airbrush to get the nice look sweat.gif how if i hand paint the model using brush? i know it will be hard. i wont probably even get a even surface on all parts of the model sweat.gif

For shiny/glossy parts... u'll need a even, smooth surface...
For hand painting, It's hard to achieve but not impossible..
If you insist of using hand painting then try practice on other stuff first..

Guys..I was wondering. Just bought assembled kit, the previous owner left a deep marks. If i use mr putty, is the white colour will be obvious? I want to save the hassle of spraying.

To make it flat (not gloss) you can either paint it then apply a layer of flat top coat. Or, get a bottle of flat base.

Flat base is a type of additive that make paint flat. It comes in the same type of bottle as any mr. color paint. It looks like wax. Just add a little bit to your paint + thinner and your color will turn flat.

Test with the bottle cap first.

paint a little on the cap cover, then use cotton bud, cloth, microfibre etc to rub it lightly/hard/consistently/a little while/a long while......

u see the effect, which one u prefer.

unfortunately not many modelers use that, and for industrial use, that size , relatively small which suitable for hobby, usually people do not sell in retail cause it's too niche market.

I know there r companies trying to do hobby size, and try market as hobby craft tools. But normally they sell in bulk n container.

Will get some sample and see the quality first. But price aint too nice, almost RM100 per pc.

Ok, advertisement aside, actually mind sharing what would u use it for? cause i was discussing with another modeler and we couldn't find any advantage of this tool over pin vise n hand held router (holding it free hand).

Hi Rayloke

Yup I don't see it around being sold. I already have a minidrill and was thinking of using the drill to drill more accurate holds for the pins as I find using free hand to drill that the holes may run larger or even slip. If the pricing is affordable then why not.

I don't own a pin vise as it's not available unless I order it online.

For thin plastic or a shallow hole, i think pin vise would be a better choice. Unless u r drilling onto something very hard, like metal, or very thick plastic. Otherwise, the whole load of extra work u need to do using a stand doesnt justify its value.

minidrill set is not cheap, probably around usd20+, and u also need to order online. i would strongly recomment u get a pin vise.
