I just know bout the westie when my friend sms me this morning. she said she saw the mother d, and the owner said the mother gave birth to pups and they want to sell 1 of the pup with RM500... cheaper than toy poddle laugh.gif

anyway she told me she really like westie and wan to buy after I told her westie need larger space, maitenance, exercise n the fur will turn yellow or red if she cannot maintain the fur. But she still said she want it... so I wan to know whether this Breeder from Rawang is good?

Congratulations on your purchase. Do share more info of your westie such as name, where you bought it from, how old, how much, etc. I have a book on westie, I'd recommend it. For more info: http://www.amazon.com/West-Highland-White-...39882510&sr=8-1

I shower my dog once a week now, used to be once every 4 days. Can shower wan is ok because Malaysia tropical weather is different and here, it's damper than overseas. That's just a personal thought.

Wow... RM950 sounds like a fair price for a Westie without cert. Post up a pict soon. I believe he's a male then?

Well, I have 3 but I'm unsure if the first is a pure westie, possibly a mixed but regardless, still love him. The second is a female and last is a male. The second and last is MKA certified but the first is not.

First one is name Casper, followed by Moonie and then Marquis. Just neutered Casper last Friday, to avoid accidents.

Yes, i do train my dogs - basic stuff only though.
1. Their names
2. Come
3. Sit
4. Down
5. Hand
6. Roll Over
7. Bang bang (play deaD)
8. Up
9. Go home
10. Pee and poo in the toilet or outside of the house

Roughly that's about it and we dont have much time to teach much else.

hi everyone,

i know i have been missing for a long time. but i have a sad news to share, and i hope other Westie lovers and potential Westie owners beware of this situation.

during a visit to the vet, Scubby's doctor found that his hind legs barely touches the floor when he walks. after doing an x-ray, the result showed us that Scubby has Hip Dysplasia. This is an incurable hereditary problem that is passed on from the dam and sire to their puppies.

QUOTE
Hip dysplasia, a malformation of the hip joint resulting in a poor fit between the head of the femur bone and the hip socket. This condition can be alleviated by surgery, at some cost to dog and owner. Because dysplastic dogs often produce dysplastic puppies, buyers should ask if both the sire and the dam of the puppy in which they are interested have been rated clear of hip dysplasia. Do not take yes for an answer without seeing a certificate, and ask for a copy to take to your veterinarian.

http://www.dogs.info/dogbreeds/westie/

from now on, scubby needs to take glucosamine and chondroitin supplements for the rest of his life. there is no cure for this problem, just delay as much as we can. he will have a very painful life when he grows older and he would not be able to walk or jump like other dogs.

irene kang is selling her puppies again. so if you are planning to buy her westie puppy, please consider this factor because it is a lifelong commitment - both emotionally and financially.

before you buy a puppy from the pet shop, make sure you find out the dam & sire's health condition. irene promised us that her dogs are of good quality and healthy, but now i know she was just trying to sell us her puppy and make money...

benjac, maybe you can try to inform irene about this illness? See what she said bout this. I heard she's been doing this for quiet sometime right? There is a chance that she din know bout this at all. Because puppies that she sold before never got any complain maybe?

Since scubby's vet found out about this it would be good if u inform her and let her bring her sire n dam to go for a check up smile.gif

i just informed her via her post in another forum. i don't know if she knows, but after my experience with her, she has been dishonest for a few occasions and we never make a fuss with her. but this time, i think it is my responsibility to inform others especially since i promoted her dogs so much previously.

this is a huge commitment now and we love scubby so much. i cannot imagine my pain when i see him in pain next time cry.gif the doctor already advised us that scubby should not jump or be too active from now on. and he is only 7 months...
