Marquis smell like Coke.

I dont let them run around the house because I dont have maid to clean up the house after their poo / pee / fur.

That is why I keep them in their own house outside.

Your dogs should be house trained already right? Or you're afraid they're not used to the new environment and simply poo everywhere?

laugh.gif Pandan smell is to me and my family lah. If other people smell, sure say it's dog odour laugh.gif

Snowball is currently using Snow Pearl dog shampoo, it has whitening and conditioning effect. Once this bottle finishes I'll change to another one, forgot what's the name, but it's 50bucks a bottle, meant for white dogs, used by professionals thumbup.gif

i have 2 shampoos and rotate them as and when required. one is whitening, and the other is oatmeal based as whitening shampoos can cause drying of the skin and hence make them scratch more.

i read in a westie forum in puppy.com that one of the owners there uses johnson & johnson baby shampoo on her westie for 17years. she said it is very good for her westie because it has skin problem. and also won't irritate the eyes because it is no tear shampoo.

what do you guys think? nod.gif

I use All System #1 (forgot which one exactly) but I usually buy 1 litre so I can use them for a long time. I buy once a year or less only.

Moonie is house trained to do it in the toilet. Casper will whack around the dustbin. So, I cannot let them out unsupervised. It's a lot of work for a house without maid to maintain the dogs and Casper marks, that's one of the main reason why I want to neuter him.

They are still doggy odour regardless if its coke or pandan.

I think the person who wrote that was ERN, was it? I think it's reliable and true. If the shampoo wont harm a baby, it shouldnt do much harm on a dog / puppy.

Westies are indoor dogs but my new house dont have dogs indoor, or we're trying not keep them indoor. Actually, the area I'm going to keep them is considered indoor but just separate from the mainhouse but is attached near the kitchen.

If I dont bath him, he has strong doggy odour. I feel Westie are smell stronger than other breeds. Do you guys think so?

Hmm...no lar, both of mine dont really smell. Last time when casper skin prob became teruk, the odour smells bad lar..but now he don't seem to have any odour, not dun have at all lar...i mean the smell is very minimal oni. Mayb try to cut the top part of ur westies hair short and see how it goes.

I tried cutting him bald before, it didnt help la... No point cutting again but we're trying to keep his fur short cause he's been shedding a lot. My house everything is Casper fur, drop off like chunk of ball like that. If his fur is long, it curls upwards become spikey westie but short it's smooth and just nice.

Westies have two layer of hairs....when it becomes long, the top layer will be like those wire type, the lower part of the fur will be the softer part. Normally the wire hair is on the top part oni...i mean on the back of the body. When its short then the fur will be smooth.

I am not sure if dual layer fur is applicable here in the tropics. I kinda feel they only have a single layer, thats why my dogs cannot tahan aircond. Hahahaha... Well, Casper's fur and Moonie are just different. Moonie is smoother even though on the outer layer (if she has any). Even if kept long, it's still long and smooth. Casper is wirey and hard, coarse and rough. Marquis is like Moonie.

Yea, that's quite true but remember one thing. A lot of cheap shampoo is made of chemicals. Meanwhile other shampoos are made out of herbs and etc.

When its a puppy, the fur will be smooth...wait when it matured and the hair will change. Tweety last time aso like that. But normally westies have two layers of hair....its the breed fur. Even u read westies book, it also will say so. It only grows at the back part of the body. Thats y i alwaz aso keep their back hair short, but casper wit skin prob now...his back hair are ofter botak.

I know ler... dual layer of coat. I love this breed so much, I actually bought a westie book from Amazon. But it sure doesnt behave like having dual layer of fur lor. Hahahaha... Moonie is fully grown but her fur is also smooth, not wirey or rough. Marquis, no need to say, confirm 100% will turn out soft.

DUnno why Casper is like that... but his sister, I found through Dogster... Casper sister grow up look so long fur and soft... Casper pulak rough rough like gangster.

Cut botak oso cannot. Leave conditioner on (bought from Aus and smell like coconut. Hard to find in Msia)... use about 4 bottles also doesnt help. GIve supplement oso doesnt help. Decided to leave it as it is and accept him for who he is.

See Casper sister here...http://www.dogster.com/dogs/463616
Her name is Morris.

Actually there is a reason why westies have two layers of coat. The wiry top coat of westies is to protect it from cold and damp, but since m'sia so hot...its better to keep them short. The soft undercoat also makes them feel better with our hot environment.

Im aso not very sure about ur pup teeth. But when pup, their teeth surely thin n sharp coz its still milk teeth...giv them bite those raw hide bones or those nylon bones that are sold at most petshops coz now they still teething. Mayb u can go n ask the vet lar if u r to worried or post those pics n let us see.
