I was posting halfway while waiting for the traffic light but dunno why my post was not posted.

I have to agree with wzseow and larryho on this even though I have my own intentions to neuter Casper even when he's 2 years old now.

You bought a champion line westie, whom you want to neuter and cut off his family line. Why go through the trouble, getting such an expensive dog then? Even if you dont want to breed him, he can still be a stud dog.

You get paid for being providing a stud dog service. Optionally, you get to choose the first pup among the litter in the case where you want another westie.

Neutering lower the chances of your dog getting cancer but it's not preventing it from happening. Its still possible!! Before you neuter, read up on the odds of getting cancer after neutering. If it's >80 I think worth it la, if it's not what's the point? It's a nice breed, keep the bloodline.

Casper is a different case. Though Moonie was bought to accompany Casper, he isnt exactly the best breed and temperament. So we decide we may neuter him and let Moonie breed with Marquis instead. We are still discussing and may even drop the whole idea but may proceed to avoid accidents.

Hmm...never in my mind plan to neuter my dogs, i feel damn unfair to them. Juz try to put urself into their shoes. Cancer problem can occur anytime, if its time for them to leave....u aso cant do anything about it. Juz fully enjoy ur life with them and taking them as a best fren or a child of urs coz u brought them into the family and they did not decide it. Like the saying 'Dogs are Man's Best Fren'.

I guess its best not to neuter ur puppy lar, let it be as it is. Imagine v being neutered when u were young, pity lar.

this big question have to really think think. got pros and cons la, but i have more pros now than cons, so that is why the decision to neuter him. neutering can prevent aggressiveness if he don't get to hump and "release" blush.gif

let me ask casper's dr grace and see smile.gif

pennywise, i feel your pain on the synchronized barking....i feel it too every time a dog walks past. worse as we don't have a front fence or front gate so Sparky and Buffy have full view of the front of the house.

and talking about stud service.....wanna consider using Sparky?... tongue.gif

Vets sure recommend to neuter. I asked my vet before in Kota Kemuning. They earn money from neutering, of course they will advise you to neuter your puppy.

I think for the male is still ok.. statement told me female shd spay to prevent breast cancer wic is very common. So for me i'll let both my girl to have a change to become mother, and then baru will spay them. Somehow, is a best time to spay/neuter ur dog is while their 1yr+ - 2yrs old. Not too old coz the chance to get cancer it high jor.

Agree wit u pennywise, a good blood line shd be remain. As u said for male, u can let him provide a stud dog service to earn some. And for female let her breed for once on max to 2 litter then retire them by spay. For me, i think more then 2 time breeding for female will harm their health. And i'll spay them before they reach 3yrs old.. However i must check out all this wit vet 1st whether am i correct. hehehe

erm...frankly speaking i dun take my dogs for earning money lar, i rather they have a better home to stay and owners that will commit themselves to their dogs.

Anyway...to neuter or not also in the hands of the owner, u r commited to ur dogs, so u should know what is best for ur dogs. But in my oppinion, i would not neuter them unless im force to do so.

What to do, the place you stay all big houses with no fencing / gates. Wondering, where you let them out to run around?
Stud service? Dont want la, I got two gigolo already and I'm not ready for Moonie to give birth now, I think I will go crazy.

Female is call spay la, neuter is for male.
They say, the later you spay / neuter, the risk is higher - how true? Tak tau.
I like your thinking.

Human heart, hard to tell. How sure are you they are going to a better home? Owners commit themselves to their dogs? I think they put up a show only.

What u said is damn true aso, like i saw those ppl carrying their dogs to pasar malam...outside like damn sayang their dogs, when at home...i guess they dun even wish to care...i think they bring out just to show off lar.

U cant be sure that they will go to a better home, but u'll alwaz wish that ur pups will stay at a better home rite? For me, i'll hope that westies owner understand about the breed 1st before taking them as a pet. They may look nice and charming, but if kena skin problem..its a true headache man. Thats y i said...commitment to ur dogs are damn freaking important.
