was wandering around for movies yesterday and turned to avatar, since at the same time i had no idea what to do.

turned out i liked the movie after so many rubbish movies that came out in the recent years. why?

-it's a feel-good movie, not another kill-you-kill-me-motherfker type of movie, something that would make you happy after watching it, which is good, been watching too much depressing b-grade movie (i.e. 2012)
-the visuals are outstanding, something you have always wanted WoW to be, or at least what you experienced in dream
-the details are amazing, i'm speechless on this, the efforts and time spent on this are worth the ticket you spent as opposed to other movies. i.e. storm riders
-i actually like the length of the movie, though at times felt long, but it is necessary to keep the pace of the movie, where the stories are tailored for you immerse yourself into the world of pandora.
-4/5 biggrin.gif

really mixed review

but seriously if James Cameron made this story back in 1999 as planned right after titanic then it would have been a classic

i can practically guess what's gonna happened next doh.gif

lucky i didnt say out loud, will spoil for the rest of the crowds laugh.gif

anyway very few humour

dunno bout u guys, but i like my movies, no matter how serious to contain humour or dark humour

pandora looks amazing...the scene looks so great
recommended to watch
they literally tell the whole story...didn't skip anything
i think it would be nicer to watch in 3D and blue-ray

usually i dont make a big a deal about originality because it's hard to be original anymore nowadays. but the film is textbook. there's no innovation in structure and pacing. i bet if u dissect the script, u could see the three acts (setup-confrontation-resolution) divided equally and rigid.

so i just sit back and enjoy the ride. no thinking needed.

but i have to repeat: michelle rodriguez is an absolute waste.

I just came back and while I did not love it as much as Ebert (who gave it 4/4 and devoted an entire blog entry on it), I still didn't think it was a complete disappointment. Besides, I thought it was pretty much common knowledge that this movie would involve a wheelchair bound military officer (borrowing from Wolves) in an avatar and falls in love with a native and is torn between his world and hers (Pocahontas) since all this was evident from the trailer.

I can understand you being disappointed but it wasn't really that much of a problem for me. My problem with the film was the dialog and a lack of excitement from the action scenes which is a bit disappointing when you're talking about the guy who directed T2 and Aliens.

Agreed with Rodriguez: the way what happened to her was handled was cheap. But still, this is the first time I find her hot.

A nice movie to watch.

Just finished watching Avatar and i think it definitely worth the money i paid for the ticket.

The CGI is great, things look real, the story is quite logical i guess, some funny parts but the movie is mostly serious. smile.gif smile.gif

Go ahead guys, watch it in the cinema!
