Recently we have received some enquiries about starting a low-risk investment. Even though our views on equity markets remain positive, we understand that some investors prefer investments with steady and stable returns compared to equities which are more volatile in nature.
If this is you, we would recommend you to consider investing in the AmDynamic Bond fund. This fund is invested wholly in Malaysian bonds with investment-grade ratings. AmDynamic Bond has just declared dividends of 2 sen per unit recently. This fund has consistently distributed 4 sen dividend per year since 2005. On a total return basis (i.e. including dividends reinvested), AmDynamic Bond has provided decent returns to investors for each of the past few years. The AmDynamic Bond fund ranked top among Malaysia Bond funds for the past five-year, four-year, three-year and two-year periods ended March 2011. It was also the best performing Malaysia Bond fund in 2006 and 2009. This fund ranked highest under our performance criterion among the 17 funds the Malaysia Bond category. In terms of resilience, the fund has a higher resilience during market downturns compared to its peers. The fund’s expense ratio was slightly lower than the average of funds in this category. We like this fund for its consistent performance, high resilience and low expense ratio. Generally, Malaysian bonds play an important role in capital preservation because it has low correlation with equities, and hence is ideal for portfolio diversificiation purposes. So regardless of whether you decide to invest in equities in the future or not, Malaysian Bond funds make good starting investments and warrant a place in every investors’ portfolios. We believe that this fund is a great choice for investor who want to start a low-risk investment that can preserve wealth and at the same time provide steady returns. |

QUOTE(Kaka23 @ Mar 16 2012, 11:35 AM) Because previously many anticipated BNM to cut rate, but it didn't materialise.Bond is sensitive to interest rate situation and interest rate expectation. If one forsee inflation threat, with economy situation turn better, equities may perform better than bond. Also watch the distribution, any distribution will cause the fund NAV to drop as well. Hello Sifus...
I have Rm10k in my hand only for investment purpose. I believe I won't need this money in short term period at all. I'm a moderate risk taker. I can all in lump sum in one stock or diversify into few stocks but I believe for rm10k capital, it's not rational choice to buy a lot of stocks, especially for long term purpose. My investment term would be for 5-10years. I'm planning to reinvest the dividends also. What are the options for me? please specify the options so I can do my research. Thanks in advance! |

Hi guys, I'm looking to invest and since I'm new (sounds naive) in investing and funds, can you guys help?
If I invest in say AmDynamic Bond, OSK-UOB Cash Mngmt Fund and KidSave, will I need to regualrly topup every month? Then, what is the next step? Keep monitoring the account? Sell it? Cash it? My point of investing is to have backup in the future, so if I were in need of a really emergency money, I still can rely on these funds. OR did I get it wrong? |

PM me if u interested for discussions. |

Guys, mind helping me with my UT calculations?
I bought my 1st UT in February. And top up in March on 13th March (distribution date). So I add up both investment and calculate the average unit price. And use the current date (16th March) to calculate my profit/loss. And it's clearly that I have a loss, since the price of my first UT investment dropped significantly. I choose to reinvest my dividends, but I not sure if I will be entitled to any distribution (from my first investment which is just 1 month before the distribution date). Will I get my distribution? Cause if I'm not entitled to any distribution this round, I will be at a loss right? I have yet to receive any statement from my bank. Do help me out. p/S: Cause if I'm entitled to distributions (UT units), then I will NOT be at a loss. So question is am i entitled to distribution? Hi folks, I've got a very basic question... for unit trusts (UT), do the returns performance % include management charges? Or does that have to be factored in separately?
I asked a UT agent before, and he assured me the published numbers take management charges into account, but I can't find any B&W statement to that effect in the various prospectus' I've seen. Even fundsupermart doesn't seem to list that info in its FAQs or whereever. p/s... I do know that initial sales charge and subsequent transaction charges aren't included inside. Any other "gotcha's" to watch out for? Thanks! This post has been edited by yokaze: Mar 21 2012, 11:56 AM |
