Guys,
I just bought shoot-em-up BD hoping to test my 7.1 setup with PS3 firmware 2.3. PS3 indicates that it is decoding DTS-MA 7.1 but my amp says it's getting MPCM 5.1 streams. There is no sound coming out from the rear surround speakers (the rest of the 5.1 channels are ok). I read on some AV forums that there's a bug in firmware 2.3 that prevents a 7.1 output for BD titles from New Line Cinema (the ones that are encoded with DTA-MA 7.1). Anyone having the same problem? NPD has said that it won't release sales figures of Blu-ray standalone players. This is because they are so low people would easily be able to identify individual retailers. According to NPD consumers are choosing much cheaper upconverting players over Blu-ray. NPD now believe that we "Blu-ray’s future won’t be clear until this Christmas, when prices should drop to the $200 range." ABI research however believes it may take Blu-ray until October 2009 to get a foothold in the market. |

jus wondering if any of you know of the existance of the extracted BD movie data and converted into DVD dual layers. in short pirated BD.. saw it myself.. but have yet to test it.. its said thy extract jus the movie without the other additional content like 7.1 audio THx quality, commentary and making off.. would it still be possible. or has anyone actually tested it yet..? |

I just received my shipment from Amazon (std delivery) - but received much earlier than expected delivery date. The problem is that 2 items were missing from the package!!! Too much lah... I suspect the customs gasak man..... Anyone experienced this before?? (Before anyone gets smart ideas - it's Spiderman and Water Horse lah!) Dammit.... written a note to Amazon already... |

Funny how my own DHL shipment didnt get molested, while others here are reporting things on the contrary. Got my previous shipment of collectibles, electronics and stuff using UPS as well, well over the alleged "RM500" quota, but was left untouched too.
Oh well, next order will be via Amazon, for the two National Treasure BDs, the Complete Rambo series BDs, Before the Devil knows you're dead, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe, and Face/Off. For a relatively old movie, Independence Day totally worked the speakers/subs! Scenes to look for are the first blowing up of downtown LA, as well as the first dogfight. The sub almost brought the house down with the explosions, and the sound of the alien lasers (or "green shit" as refered to by Captain.     The new Aliens vs Predator: Requiem BD(or rather idiotically names as AVP2 in your cinemas around here) contains a second disc that allows you to transfer portable version of the movie into compatible devices. The images above basically describes the process you go through to transfer this pre-encoded movie to your Mac(or PC, blergh). Fairly self-explanatory. The only other title that comes to mind that offer this such second movie in portable (read:DVD quality format) is Juno and the upcoming John Rambo (or Rambo 4 around here) BD.
