so in total how much you paid for?

btw, 9 cell batt extended to 30th...
*
Total RM 5,327.00 after rebate.

I upgraded:

1. RAM to 4GB (from 3GB)
2. Hard disk to 200GB 7.2k RPM (from 250GB 5.4k RPM).
3. Proc to T8300 C2D (from T7250 or something)

Other than that all comes as pre-configured package.

guys. if you want to get this xps m1330. be prepared to get it serviced/motherboard replaced every 6 months. after i bought this machine myself i read extensively on it that the dedicated graphics card Nvidia Geforce 8400M GS that is soldered on the mainboard will cause too much heat such that after prolong use like 6 months or so, you will funny lines across your screen and funny colours like white screen/ blue screen. it means that your motherboard has just died. so a word of advice, get a 3 years warranty if you want to buy it.

All in all, this is a very nice machine. however, there are some features that could be improved. also the new motherboard bios A11 is trying to solve this problem but i doubt it is of much of a help. thanks.

That's why i said, if you do not mind the bigger size, get M1530. It's more stable and have a better graphic card.

the thing is many ppl like the light weight and led screen in m1330. i really hope dell can solve m1330 and release a revision. then it will be a really good and reliable notebook.

for m1530, they dun have the led option in malaysia and asia pacific yet. if they can port that here then maybe yeah go for m1530. but at 2.6kg maybe not.

Well in that case how many users here did have their M1330 serviced frequently ?

in my case, if i use my SE K750, file transfer works both ways between my M1330 and the K750. BUT...if I use my Nokia 5610, files can only be transferred from the M1330 to the handphone, not vice versa. Weird shit.

I think you'll get better answer by PM those people who get their unit back in late 2007 and check with them how's theirs doing now.

Results from Google shows a lot of them having the same problem and advised to flash to the latest A11 BIOS. I too have flashed to it so I hope I won't encounter it. Those who were on the A10 BIOS did a test and showed that the temperature was quite high and they were suspecting that the A10 BIOS had poor thermal management.

true but not totally true. in reality, m1330 itself has a poor thermal design that doesnt cool the gpu fast enough if used under intensive load. thus while the A10 bios makes the XPS M1330 a quieter machine due to the slower fan speed and timings, it makes it hotter. A11 just makes the fan speed faster and spins more, that in conclusion is trying to lower down the cpu and gpu temperature. but there you go having a noiser m1330. but by how much, i cant really tell.

there are loads...and remember ur not counting in ppl who do not surf the forums..also if you include other forums...the number is big..

i had loads of issues, till i asked for a full refund..i know of people who have had up to 3 replacement units and i know lots who keep servicing theirs blindly - brand new units..and when you argue, they keep saying dell is good because they come and repair for you if anything goes wrong...they come because lots of their machines have probs, of course not all have probs, at this point, the number of problematic units has gone down substantially. but knowing dell, if its not today, then its tomorrow. speaking from experience of owning few Dells and having lotsa friends who own them too.

True that, I am actually quite interested to know if those who had this issue were using it for some heavy usage perhaps needing the graphics processing power. If it usually happens to those who use it for heavy usage then I might consider myself to be alright with it since I only do works such as word documents and some illustrations and so on.

Is the refund applicable even if the warranty period is over ?
