yeah seale, also...my latitude d410 which i am using - comes with a 3yr international warranty...the right-click button just died...the hinge is so loose...the screen is washed out....etc...i mean its a business class laptop..come on dell...of course they are sending me replacement parts...promised me a week ago...every morning, someone calls me and says i am coming to your house later....then only to call and say sorry the parts have not arrived...

anyway, i am clear on wht i want...there is a brand i should try to avoid for now... how bout u seale? did u get in touch with the person i refered u to?

gyver,

the palm rest will get hot...but should not be hot to the extend that you are not comfortable...btw, do you guys know how thin the palmrest cover is? its like 3-4 papers put together...its really thin...if it gets abnormally hot, get them to check your comp...mine was apparently caused by the heatsink failing....

flashing bios will not screw up ur lappie, as long as ur hv sufficient batt power (make sure) and keep it plugged to the power supply. i heard tough some ppl at the hp forums elsewhere screwed up theirs when they downgrade their bios...anyway, anything happens - u know wht no to call smile.gif

so lester, u bought an unlocked card and u can use without probs? mind to share where u get it?

why it died? i dunno friend..out of the blue, it can no longer power on, even with the a/c connected, a common solution would be to reseat the RAM, which in most cases caused the symptom, but it still failed. anyway, u guys know the amount of probs i had with this....i dont think so the fan can cause the nit nit sound ler...some component in there producing that sound...

i think what moontank meant to say is that the xps is dell's high-end series in the product portfolio. it comes with "1st class customer support" and is supposed to be a top in the league product...supposed la

yup I'm really interested to know bout it too!

there are loads...and remember ur not counting in ppl who do not surf the forums..also if you include other forums...the number is big..

i had loads of issues, till i asked for a full refund..i know of people who have had up to 3 replacement units and i know lots who keep servicing theirs blindly - brand new units..and when you argue, they keep saying dell is good because they come and repair for you if anything goes wrong...they come because lots of their machines have probs, of course not all have probs, at this point, the number of problematic units has gone down substantially. but knowing dell, if its not today, then its tomorrow. speaking from experience of owning few Dells and having lotsa friends who own them too.

no prob yongkailoon,

anyway with all the probs...i would just get a refund before its too late..save me time and increases productivity...less headache too...after all, if you pay so much with anticipation of problems, whats the point of owning it? i would get something else...perhaps even check out Dell's new line...but as for me, no more Dell's in the future.

dani if u can just take the refund la..i can tell u, you will not regret it....even if i end up paying more, or get specs not as good, still will never even consider Dell....i know some corporate and a number of ppl too moving away from Dell..
