Yo guys, i'm new to oc'ing an AMD (or OC'ing at all...)

Got a 9500 phenom(stock HSF) with Biostar TA770+

The thing is.. my best OC with it is 2.54ghz and its freaking hot,
i'm worrying. 55c at load. Weird thing is the temp did not go higher...
throttling at work? I think forking out rm100+ for a gemini II
or whatnot does not justify for a mere 100mhz increase.

Safe clock would be 2.42ghz where load temps are not over 50c.
Usually around 45-47.

Anyone able to push a 9500 to 2.6ghz stable or even 2.8ghz???

Both increasing clockspeed and voltage cause an increase in heat generation

IF follows a simple equation actually

Power dissipated = TDP x (current clockspeed/default clockspeed) x (current voltage/default voltage)^2

But as u can see, the voltage is a bigger factor as its effect is squared.

nahh....the earlier phenom is not an OCer....
i only can stable my OC at 2.5ghz....and at 2.7ghz is not stable....just can login into windows and cant run any apps as it may restart...

I think the restart causes by the TLB bug?So sempronic edy ask your supplier ma ?

no i think u dont quite understand bout the TLB bug...its restart as the 1st batch phenom is not a good OCer....
still not ask....waiting for him to confirm what proc coming in as today got some new phenom coming but not sure what model...

Looking around other tech reviews, seems like a 2.6ghz phenom
can't even OC to 3.0ghz properly for B3.

Hehe, lets all wait for Phenom FX or something....

I'm gonna keep up my quest to get a stable 9500 2.6ghz overclock.
If thats ever gonna happen that is....

u kinda wrong there...the new phenom B3 work well for this time being....
one of our fellow AM2 already clock his X3 Toliman to 3.0ghz
and another one with X4 9850BE that he get from me can clock 2.9ghz @ 1.29v and
he can go 3.0ghz just a little pump of vcore....
what i can say is that the new batch phenom rock then the previous one....
