Yo guys, i'm new to oc'ing an AMD (or OC'ing at all...)

Got a 9500 phenom(stock HSF) with Biostar TA770+

The thing is.. my best OC with it is 2.54ghz and its freaking hot,
i'm worrying. 55c at load. Weird thing is the temp did not go higher...
throttling at work? I think forking out rm100+ for a gemini II
or whatnot does not justify for a mere 100mhz increase.

Safe clock would be 2.42ghz where load temps are not over 50c.
Usually around 45-47.

Anyone able to push a 9500 to 2.6ghz stable or even 2.8ghz???

Blow rm500+ for B2 phenom... still wanna blow more cash for B3??
Looking around other tech reviews, seems like a 2.6ghz phenom
can't even OC to 3.0ghz properly for B3.

Hehe, lets all wait for Phenom FX or something....

I'm gonna keep up my quest to get a stable 9500 2.6ghz overclock.
If thats ever gonna happen that is....

Looks like everyone abandoned B2 Phenom?
My 9500 max out at 2.595ghz

Anymore it will just simply not boot.
Can't even touch 2.6ghz

Huh huh....
Time to jump ship to Intel.

Unless some magical BIOS comes to push phenom B2 higher,
I have lost all my hopes in AMD.

Woot! Finally I've hit 2.6ghz with me Phenom 9500.
10 minutes into the ati overdrive bench and it seems to
be stable so far.

Hey guys, Denebs should be backward compatible with AM2+ right?
I've been tempted to get a B3 since B2 phenom is a letdown. If
denebs will work with my mobo, I guess I'll just wait it out.

Maybe because AMD chips are maxed out already.
No more room to OC further.

the slow boot probably related to on-board peripherals.... i guess it's the SB-600 chipset, which also said to be limiting maximum oc.
*
That is very very potong stim for me.

@ 2.640ghz = Sometimes enter safe mode at bios, if not, windows crashes during boot
@ 2.604ghz = Failed torture test ( 1.214v )
@ 2.530ghz = Pass
@ 2.420ghz = Pass

any oc done on ya phenom 9500 mate?  biggrin.gif
one Q to ask biostar ta770 users:

did d bios allow nb multiplier adjust? too bad ax78 no such option...  sad.gif
*
It has been a tough journey which I gave up for now. Will get back to it later.
B2's are just..... vmad.gif

Best stable OC is 2.53ghz for now sweat.gif

Yeah TA770 allow NB multi adjust. Hmmm.. I thought u can also adjust using AMD overdrive?

no mate, have been busy w/ vista these few days. my c drive too small for big fat os i can't find any free partitionin s/w for vista. end up reinstall xp, use "free" partition magic just to resize my c drive then reinstall vista again... d migration from xp to vista was really pain in d a$$...  doh.gif

i think mine will max out @ 2.5x prime stable... tried several time @ 2.6GHz alwez give me BSOD... not much complaint as i got it @ knock down price...  laugh.gif

how bout yas? 2.53GHz @ 1.20v is a gud sign... saw a guy in xs doin 2.9xGHz w/ his 9600... but w/ ln2 iirc @ rather low voltage (1.3xv)...  lust.gif
*
Well I can hit 2.6ghz without any BSOD at all(so far).

Only issue is prime95 will show me that its not stable. increasing vcore does not make any difference in
stability so i'm sure its something to do with memory and here is the problem.... i know nuts on ram timings
and stuff. will take some time. rclxub.gif

Here is a weird thing I've tried, I've disable core2 and prime95 will run longer than usual before the error
pops out. Defective core? doh.gif

EDIT:
Forgot to tell ya. search for "vlite".
My vista installation file is only 570mb. thumbup.gif
After installed roughly i think used 2gb only.

heard some rumours few months back syain that there's a defective core in all b2... guess it wasn't totally bs...  smile.gif

i'm havin hardtime pushin it @ 2.6GHz prime stable, think i gotta settle for 2.5xGHz for 24/7 usage.  biggrin.gif

thx for d vista tips mate...  wink.gif
drivers for 64-bits os still not so mature imo.  smile.gif
bro, is 2gb enuf for gamin in vista? thinkin of downgradin to 2gb again...  tongue.gif
*
Well I think its very hard to prove defective core. but i need less vcore and will prime longer without errors when i disable core2.
end of the day will still error... just that more stable to start out only.

Unable to 200x13 for 2.6ghz for ur phenom???

depends on what game u play though.

but my laptop, with aero turn on & virtual mem. off,
fresh boot into windows with those default programs.

ram usage @ 1gb cun cun.

so, another 1gb free for other apps. / game.

Added on June 26, 2008, 2:38 pmcyloh ,

isn't that it's the same meaning as able to orthos test load 2 cores stable leaving the other 2 cores idling?
then when dual-orthos , test load 4 cores.. unstable/failed?

that sounds more like unstable oc, to me.
*
cpuz -coremask command will effectively disable the core of your choice upon restart. That is what I use icon_rolleyes.gif
I don't even want my core2 to be available to test things out.

QUOTE(ah_khoo @ Jun 26 2008, 02:39 PM)
bro, there's no point for me to test d max for each core as i'll be runnin d chip w/ 4 cores enabled 24/7. if i want it ya way, i should have bought bro habuk's b3, save me lotsa time & efforts...  wink.gif

me orang tue = less patience...  tongue.gif
mine aint a be mate, plain 9600 only...  sad.gif

will try my best to break d 2.6GHz barrier but my patience is runnin out ledi, that explain why i'm havin bad mood lately (after i get d chip)...  laugh.gif
*
I think everyone who gets a B2 have bad mood and frust. rclxm9.gif

nope mate, gave up ledi. it could be diff if i own a k9a2 plat...  sad.gif

770 ain't cut it for quaddies oc, or i'm sux...  laugh.gif
*
Yeah.. people at XS seems to be able to get their B2's to 2.6-2.8ghz using k9a2.
People like us have to wait i suppose. Either wait for a SB750(which i hope will aid in B2 oc'ing)
or wait for deneb hehe....

i know what u target.. BE brows.gif

YES smile.gif smile.gif

But stuck in a rut now. Unable to oc to 2.6ghz.
Prime will get errors but if i prime with little rams tested, can prime without errors +_+
Is it due to my memory settings?
