It takes time to change their habit.
They dun change overnight, just be patient and bond with him.
U only have them for like a few weeks?
Not more than 2 i suppose right?
So take ur time with them.
U giving up on them so early?
Come on, u know it takes time before this.
Dun give up k?
Some gliders just has their own personality.

Yup, it would be quite dangerous.
They'll lick the dust, eat whatever is there.
So it's up to u to make sure that places they go to is clean.
Else they might get some weird diseases.
They won't suffocate, they eat it then spit it out.
But u don't know what's in there.
There are microorganism that can't be seen with naked eyes

Hi jitshiong,

Thanks for your advise. I believe you are right. There are just more than dust but bacterias in there which could be harmful. OK I will be more careful but it's risky considering places like under the bed, behind the cupboard, etc.

Hello Suggie Mommas and Dads! wave.gif

Finally back!

I've missed damn a lot of pages and really have no time to read all back, so if there is anything important directed to me while I was away, kindly rephrase it please smile.gif Thanks yah!

---

Aizad,

It's quite normal for suggies to eat a lot one day and lesser the next day or so, if it prolongs for a few days eating less or not eating, then you should be worried...

You could try bonding more with your suggies to lessen the crabbing and such.

Don't encourage or teach them to eat from/inside the pouch, that could lead them to be pouch protective all the time.

Lure her outside or if possible, flop her out from the pouch(you know by turning the pouch inside out and popping her out wink.gif )

Good luck smile.gif

so malas to type this but i just tell la..

maybe because your glider is not active and most of the time sleeping so they wont need much food to restore energy and not hungry.. thats why they dont eat..

I have a question about gliders and cleanliness. For example, a glider jump off our body and run around in the room. Then it runs behind the wardrobe.

Considering that the back of wardrobe has not been for many years and there are dust gathered there. The glider dirtied itself - will it be harmful? Will dust be bad for them? Will they suffocate / choke?
*
penny.. it's BEST to clean ur room and make sure dust won't stacked behind ur cupboard if u're letting them stray around ur room.. make sure tight corners won't be having dead cicak or roach as they will eat em.. =P hehehe my room is still a bit messy.. so no out for my Glynx.. now just stayin in the cage whenever she's at my place.. at my gf's place.. she will run around the bed area.. even my bed also she free roam.. then i will limit her if she tries to go down.. hehe =P

dude.. very easy and very hard also.. cause u need to do this one thing.. bring them out.. wit u.. alternately.. or both together.. always.. and what i mean is 'EVERYday' they don't get use to u yet i think.. wear them out like how u wear ur clothes man.. that's what i've been doing.. they are every single bits and pieces of my life now already.. and the defination u use that bond isn't bout that.. what bond means is that ur gliders will stay to u no matter what happens.. and they rarely will jump off from u.. that's bonded..

Bad idea actually. Since glider is a nocturnal creature, their eyes are sensitive to lights. Esp from that lamp. It can cause some permanent damage.

Thanks for bringing your questions up here.

I'd like to share my view.

There are a couple of things very wrong here.

First, the basking lamp you are using is actually a general heating lamp, they emit heat.

But if you are not careful, you will very lightly to overburn your critter, esp when your lamp is placed at such close distance. Even with star torts, the amount of heat must be carefully regulated to avoid overheating, dehydration and discomfort.

Sugar gliders are creatures with night vision and we have discussed previously that their eyes are extremely sensitive to light, even the normal candescent white fluorescent, it is still consider not suitable, but can be tolerable if place at certain height.

Even you decide to put a lid over the container but lights can penetrate through the sides.

To keep them warm, you can place them at a warmer place instead, at toom temperatere. And you can provide fleece pouches for them to sleep and keep warm. They will hardly catch a cold if you do this.

The best temperature for gliders is 70-90 Fahrenheit. That means, 21-32 degrees C. Our weather at Klang Valley range between 23-32 degrees.
This indicates that current tropical climate is fine.

Personally, i will never resort to put my gliders in a small container with a lid. In fact, i'm in the process of expanding my cage, a 5 x 7 ft will be good smile.gif I'm a bit worried when you said you want to put them in the container.

Do what seems best to you yeah? smile.gif

OK, I will try to clean my room at least this one time to ensure they are living in healthy if I let them out. I will supervise them closely if I ever let them lose. Some places are extremely hard to clean in my house.

hrm.. i think hun can answer u this.. she placed a heater bfore.. for her babies.. but NOT light one la.. what pet safari is doing is pure stupid.. dun follow them.. they place the exact same one on top of the tank.. and there's no coconut shell for them to hide.. just some lil newspaper onli.. and they place the gliders inside a tank.. glass tank.. and aii.. sad case la.. try to find heater 'without' BRIGHT lights.. that can heat up the cage.. or well.. the pouch.. ur gliders dun need a HUGE cage for now.. a hamster cage would be fine now.. cause they are small and need just that small place cause they dun roam around that much and the MOST important factor is heat.. ur hand heat.. ur neck heat and beat.. ur body heat.. u need to put tissue inside every pouch to let ur latest underage glider to really feel the warm.. try the heating pad from Osim.. that works too.. but make sure won't be tooooo hot la.. like milk warm enuff d.. like baby milk warm..

ur pet-own-milk must be tested like how u feed a real baby human also.. put on ur hand.. see warm or hot.. then taste it.. as i tasted it bfore.. haha make sure it's not sour.. and freeze it when u dun need it..
