Headlines yesterday
Kiah kena bitten..

My girl and boy almost same age. I got them in August last year.
I would suggest you to have a companion for Dydy in future. I believe you know about the adverse of solo gliders.
I don't know if there is any reason for not having dominant females as well for dominant males. But i do hope more clarification.

I hope i'm concealed, in identity, that i can have privacy. But not quite then.

Hearing your story of Dydy attacking Kiah, makes me a bit wary to let mine mix as well also. I don't think mine can be better than yours.
The two have been so comfortable by themselves all this while.
You know they attacked my guinea pig once.

Hun,

Just want to talk to you about my gliders.

I'm so happy with my male suggie. I let them out in my room every night, and my male suggie seems like miss me so much and he never leaves me, but residing quietly next to me. I love him so much.

My female suggie, i love her too, but she has such different personality, making so much bing and bang noise around, bursting with energy, sprinting around my room. Seldom comes to me.

OK, gtg... bye Hun.

Hun, hope you get back in wholesome shape again, drink more water.

That day i showed you my female glider with unruly and unkempt fur, which is very very unsmoothe type. You remember?
But i don't know whether i begged your pardon, you said something about lack of grooming. Is that what you said?
If it was, how come?

I notice the fur thing with my gliders as well. Sometimes Kiah and Kapi will have unkept fur, sometimes very smooth. I also notice that you can also improve the fur with a drop of cod liver oil in the food twice a week. Currently I'm trying this out.

You can also make them groom more by using a damp cloth to wipe their fur. Once they feel that their fur is damp, gliders would start to groom.
*
O I see..thanks for the tips.

That day you wiped Kiah with sth, what's that? Her fur looked drenched. i thought "gliders sweating pulak" smile.gif

HAhaha.... that was a wet wipe. Coz she was a bit stinky, so I wiped her down so she appears cleaner. But of course it made her look like a wet rat hahaha.
*
I'd like to use wet wipe. is this wet wipe means wiping wet with water or sth else? Yeah, remember it to be so cute.

Just one drop of cod liver right, not the one whole capsule right?

her pee smell like nescafe lol
she like to pee in the  bounding pouch, cannot litter train them?
even it's kinda possible
*
You and your suggies have different make-up of genes pal..how can they be affected?

If they can be contracted, then when you see your suggies have flu, see that you stay 5 metres away too.. haha..

pee smells nescafe.. hey bro, luckily i'm not drinking nescafe now la, phew..

I'll never drink nescafe lagi. nvm..still can drink teh tarik...

Whoever is able to litter train suggies not to pee in the bonding pouch, i will make sure that i will go and get that person's signature and autograph..

ah haha.. smile.gif

boleh ke litter train uh?

<QUESTION>
How often do u people clean the cage and pouches/toys?
I heard that we shouldn't clean it that often as they will mark it even more causing it to smell more..
as for the tray below how?
so actually how long should we clean the cage once?
*
Is there it? They will mark it more severely if you try to cleanse their marking smell away? O really, the more we try to clean the more they will mark, really? First time i do hear of that.

Anyway, it depends on pouch size. If the pouch is big, then can tahan longer. But if it's smaller, then you need to wash it more often.

OK, i clean the pouch whenever i tuck my my nose near the pouch, if the extent is that, when i need to retain my breath or hold my nose, opps, that means, it's very bad...

Good question, what do cage cleaning imply? Using some disinfectant spray? Using water hose? Using soap? Scrubbing the cage with brush?
What da ya mean?

I was just reading this poem, looks like written by some anonymous glider..hehe..

All About My Humans
=============
By Arnold (with a little help from Debbie)

My humans ... My humans, they are quite a pair
I love to crawl in their clothes and play in their hair.

I love my life with them a lot, it's just fine
And as busy as they are, for me they always have time.

I love to dive bomb their faces and play peek a boo games
I'm a wild little feller and they think I'm real tame.

I've trained them to spoil me and feed me real well
And 'cause they hang with gliders all day I love the way they smell.

In the daytime I dream of a place where it always is night
Cause when I'm with my humans, my life is just right!

A bit is no problem. If it's just for now then can use a little. It's just sugar afterall, to help her eat more.
*
I agree.

Cause a proportionate dose should boost the gliders' appetite by the sweet flavour among those plain flavour. It's ok not to the extent in raising the sugar level of the glider till extreme.

Sugar still exist in the fruits that we give, which are carbohydrates, in various forms such as glucose, fructose, sukrose in different molecular structures.

I should try some sprinkles of that when my food really tasteless for them.

Hun.

Suggies gathering will be welcomed by us.

I myself being the most shy person won't mind taking a step to come again (a bit doesn't sound like me..)

I think i'm more brave now.

I hope for more opportunities to learn about your collection and your suggies.

One day..

ya... here is a question.. may i know y my glider can move around my body after i get her out of the cage... but.. y everytime.. when i wan to catch her out... i means i put my hand near her inside the cage.. she will start crabbing n like try to punch my hand away.. Is it consider bond or not? or still nid some time..
*
Very familiar case to my female glider when she first introduced to my home.

It could be that she's still new to the surrounding and you..

By being more gentle and patient with her, slowly you will gain her trust.. smile.gif

Gliders of course like the dark coz they are nocturnal. So if you wanna have lights on, I suggest changing your bulb to an orange light that is not too bright. I use that and my gliders are ok. Actually, my whole house all also orange light LOL.

*
Whole house shines with orange light!! that's very special house..

indeed a soothing colour..

In fact, the glider likes that and definitely it's my choice too. smile.gif

But currently my room is lit with 2 candescent white fluorescent, will that have any immense effect on them?

If they tend to seek hiding, is it a sign of "lights too glaring"?

Freezing & Feeding SG babies to reptiles is reprehensible. Sheer disgust. Who wouldn't be fired up at such instances?

Just solemnly hope that there will be repentance for those who disregard the sanctity of these lives of poor glidee.. sad.gif

*
I can't claim i know vets that treat gliders very well. But if you have been to this thread long enough, you shall definitely know the renowned Dr Jenny from Hands and Paws, Aman Suria and Dr Yeoh from Yeoh Clinic, Tmn Megah.

Hope you have no trouble bringing your love pet for consultations.

Btw, what's up with the ears?

thx so much~~
i'm not sure bout wht happen, her ears r like being chiped off....her ears no longer pointy...when i got her she is normal, but after about a month her ear started to chip off...it has been almost a year i'm keeping her, n i've been looking for help..(i did't know bout this forum)
*
If the ear has bump at the edge, it could be like what jitshiong suspected, mites. If the ear is chipped off, could be mites infestation or due to injury. It's just our deduction and reasoning afterall and may not necessary be accurate.

It's never too soon to bring them see the professional docs..it the ears get harden, it can eventually fell off.

Just a little info on mite,
If it's mites infestation, an external parasite, then treatment with Ivermectin injection at the right dose. Oversose is deadly. And sugar gliders cannot ingest Ivermectin orally.

For a 1 kg guinea pig, the dose will be 0.2 mg/kg for mange mite. A very small dosage.

The weigh of glider is so much more nominal, it's an extremely fagile tiny critters, so the vet must really excercise prudence for Ivermectin concerned.

The vet should know what's best.

And, do update us on her progress.

Added on May 1, 2008, 9:47 pmA special dinner was made for my gliders.

Comprised of Rambutan, strawberries, cherries, blueberries as main ingredients. Rambutan is sweet but rather hard to find these days.

Secondary ones were some minor carrots, guava, tomatoes, leafy greens, rice cereal, wheatgerms..

Some eggs will be fine too.

Right now, just have some tough time making them comply for the kiwi yogurt. They are just hyper..
