QUOTE(irwan6179 @ Jun 10 2008, 07:04 AM) bad news guys, gizmodo reported that activation is done in store only. so if you want to buy iphone, you really needed to sign up for contract. there is no more buy first activate later kind of thing. it's much like cheap phone that come with every contract.sad i think is only for US...maybe difference on SG or other asia country...http://gizmodo.com/5014764/iphone-3g-prici...d-in-store-only but if it is whole world...i rather buy the current 1...coz the price for the current sure will drop alot |

if it is true that the price is remain to at $199 (presumably someone manages to avoid the contract signing bit, activate, JB etc), i think it will be more beneficial to keep your first gen iphone as a spare or for novelty sake. selling it off will be too crazy.
even your car, doesnt depreciate that much overnight. This post has been edited by nokia2003: Jun 10 2008, 04:45 PM |

One even claiming he could bring it in BEFORE 11th July @_@ I don't know if they are unaware of the different purchase policy Apple is adopting now or...is it just a scam? |

Sorry to rain on your parade but even if you get it from Optus/Vodafone and bring it back here, you still won't have warranty. Also, iPhone on prepaid plans would be more expensive. Of course, it's better than not being to get one at all. Just curious to see what the price is like for prepaid iPhone's..i'll stay safe and probably get it from Optus or Vodafone.. that is if i have the $$ .. |

Haha, if it's anything like the US, you wouldn't be able to claim warranty even if you bring it back there because you need an active account for them to service your phone. So the only way is to keep the prepaid account alive if you want the warranty. Then again, what are the odds of an iPhone breaking down? If you don't drop it on the floor every 2 days, that is.. |

I'd rather wait for singapore to launch theirs, presumably they should be targeting prior their inaugural F1 GP which is in September.

I just asked the dude that will be bringing in the phones. Apparently he has strings to pull in AT&T. So it is up for you to judge. I'll prefer to..... wait. Not that i will be buying for sure, but i do like the GPS and "dramatically improved audio".i'll stay safe and probably get it from Optus or Vodafone.. that is if i have the $$ .. |
